I used to have the Dat Extract tool a while back, before I thought I could ever use it. Now that I want to use it, I cannot find it. I think there is one at UBRS, but of course UBRS no longer has Download Central for the time being.

Does anybody have a link to it ?

Do you use GWX?

No, I haven't played anything at all since last July.

Ok that would explain it then. Now if someone with a dat extractor tool who also wants ails small moon could put his scene.dat up for download somewhere i'd be extremely grateful!

And did anyone actually measure the radius of the GWX moon? It can seem to be too large, but if the radius is 30', it's correct. :) I cannot measure it right now, but I'm sure somebody has his game launched and could do that.

Remember, that when staring at moon through binoculars or periscope it should appear much, much bigger than 'normally', when you don't use optics to look at it.

Well, mesure the moon in sh3 could be difficult withouh some reference in the sky.

one good point of comparation is the pleiades open cluster, near Taurus. is a little group of stars

WTF :o .....:hmm: ...I thought we were trying to emulate submarine warfare....not astrology :nope:

Take no mind of me I'm just an overrated/overaged/stressed out submariner trying to help with my countries war effort

Well it's the same thing as if the sun covered the whole horizon, or the sky was green instead of blue. The world around me needs to feel real in order to immerse myself into the game.

Timetraveler made an excellent "smaller moon" mod back when people first started modding for sh3. I still have alot of the older stuff pre-RUB 1.45.

THE MOD

SH3 Moon Mod is a more detailed, colorful, and realistic moon for Silent Hunter
III.

--------------------------
INSTALLING SH3 MOON MOD
--------------------------
Unzip the downloaded file. Copy the Moon.tga file to the
SilentHunterIII\data\Textures\TNormal\tex folder. Run the game.

I hope you have fun with it.

It looks like this:

You can download it here (I set it up to be enabled with JSGME):

Just a quick question Tikigod.....will this affect the reflection on the water surface ? :hmm:

Tikigod 01-27-07 11:34 AM

Not sure. You will have to ask the "skipper of the month". It doesn't alter replace or change the GWX scene.dat it only places a new texture in your "data\Textures\TNormal\tex" directory which makes the tga a higher priority than the texture with the same name in your .dat file. This only changes the one moon texture. It should not effect whatever is causing the reflection.

How about measuring it with your scope, the same way you do measure the ships radius?

Jimbuna 01-27-07 02:10 PM

The Kpt got enough on his plate at the mo with his pc....I'll load it with JSGME and find out....cheers
