Ubisoft finally figured out that there were more people manning the servers than buying the game. :)

So, will Ubisoft now release a new, downloadable, patched version of the game for offline play? If they do, I might actually buy the thing.
|
I dont think they will do anything for sh5, it wont bring in any large ammounts of new profit.

@ TF : It's worth a try...
After all, SH5 is not in condition to *cough* be played properly :D in its current state, according to Dan himself. |
With minimal effort on Ubisoft's part, they could offer a 'No DRM' downloadable version of the game. I think they would see more additional sales than they think. :)

Fair enough. :yep:
|
And what does new community manager in ubisoft SH5 forums say about it?
|
No comment :p
(What else do you expect) Could be interesting on Ruse's part going to Steam. Rumour has it that certain consoles (oh no, that dreaded word :D) will be moving to Steam to allow PC > Console match ups. Portal 2, I'm looking at you. I wonder if Ubi will do the same for other titles. |
Good news indeed.
While I dislike the DRM (mostly of any kind) I still bought SHV (big mistake) as my connectivity to the net seem to be more stable then UBI can run a professional always online gaming service :P Now I am not buying another UBI product until they properly fix SHV, which seems very unlikely and this RUSE game looks kind of fun, but I have to draw the line somewhere. I hope nothing really great is released from them (UBI) that I cant resist... :D But RUSE is not it... |
Bit confused here.... I get that SH5 may move to Steam... but what the heck does RUSE have to do with it??
|
Huh? It's news that OSP has been dropped for RUSE. What the heck does SH5 have to do with it? :O:

They are saying that the fact that Ubisoft has dropped the intention to use DRM, in favor of Steam, for a title [RUSE] gives hope that it may be retracted for other titles, including SH5. Privateer said that this was possible due to the fact that the source code likely did not have the DRM included. Jim reminded everyone that Steam can be used in offline mode. Danlisa posted to remind us that he plays console games. |
And it won't do me any good, because Steam doesn't believe I'm within their area and won't sell to me.
