I know about the "auto update" problem with steam.. but for WHATEVER reason.. After i set auto update off, as soon as i run the game and push alt tab, it goes back to "always update".... Dont get it.. I turn it off again but by then i think damage is done... Everthing works fine for a while then fails eventually... |

8 new from $27.99, 3 used from $20. Of course they also have SH5 for $24.98, but I won't buy it until the DRM is gone. Either way, if you do buy from Amazon be sure to use the Subsim store link http://www.subsim.com/store.html. That way Neal gets a piece o' da action!:sunny: |
Wake up! I dont understand that people refuse to buy the game untill the DRM is gone. Its never gonna be "gone"

Unfortunately...without an SDK we know that a few things will never be fixed. |

This type of DRM (OSP) takes up space on thier servers. So when SH5 sales slow to a crawl, then it would make sense for Ubi to patch out the OSP from SH5 to allow space for the newer games. I'd doubt Ubi would want to pay for servers for a game thats 5 years old and isnt selling (making money to pay for the servers). It's not a question of IF, but WHEN will the OSP (DRM) be removed from SH5. |

One thing about removing DRM/OSP form SH5, doing so would it also give the :arrgh!: a good starting point for removing it from all other UBsoft's games.
I assume that they are at least similar if not the same. A patch out would be almost the same for all games. If this is so they can't remove DRM/OSP With a patch. Magic |

I am old-fashioned, still having warm feelings towards Aces of Deep DOS-version and those hours spent to fiddle with start-up files to make game work. :know: CAOD still rocks in my memory...did I say WOLFPACKS! :yeah: So, I am not in hurry to see latest eye-candy. For me, graphics are least important feature, game-play and realism is. I'll get it like I got SH3 with patches and NYGM, SH4 with RFB & RSRD. I just do not buy stuff to be free alpha-tester (this game apparently was not even in beta-stage when released...IMHO) to see latest "cool images". Nor am I too keen about "Sims in Sub". Why on earth would I get too excited about walking around sub, since it's my office and I am supposed to command it... Thankfully it seems that modders (as usual) are doing great job. So, maybe in year or two, I'll join the merry U-Booters of SH5. Unfortunate for UBI, but I just do not support crap software in addition to things that are offending my rights and privacy. |

I love the SH and Total War series SH5 and Napoleon Total War were the first two games I didn't buy on release day. Release now / patch later is pretty much standard in software these days, but you've got to draw the line somewhere.
Hopefully games publishers will realise that with today's social networking tools word of an unfinished game gets around very quickly. Maybe they will try to get it closer to right, first time. |
Nope - it ain't over
SH5 is no worse than SH3 or 4 were at their beginnings. Considering the wonders accomplished by our modders on those and on SH5 already, I have good vibes.
Remember, all the complaining has been about SH5 not being what we expected. To a new gamer, not familiar with past versions, this might not seem so terrible. I agree that it should extend past 1943, but it is reflecting history and not a 'what if' concept. Doenitz went defensive in 1943 after realizing he could not replace boats as quickly as they were being lost. That is why the game runs to the historic end of the 'offensive'. |
