Yeah its broken after reload you often have zero morale. I use imedietly cook special meal ability to boost it after i load game. Sily but what we can do until patch fix it.

I just bought SH5 Gold over UBI digitalstore and patched to 1.1 in middle of last week. I played SH2/3/4 before. I like sims (mostly flight sims) and realism. In sub sim i not like manualy compute solutions for TDC etc. I want be just captain. So here is my experience with SH5. Overall i like it a lot. True feel tobe captain. I am really tied to my uboot and crew somewhat. I am in middle of "Happy times" with my U-69 after i got transfered from U-29 (if i remeber it ok).

Real improvement from generic SH3 feel. I like and enjoying objectives driven campaing. Not have prolem to fullfil most of them and they are not mandatory to campaing to continue. Had nice encounters. Got friendly destroyer follow me half way to patrol zone. Met other germany U-boot. Met big unescorted and later escorted convoys and lonely merchants and small warship groups. Got hunted by escorts and deepcharged. Got nice hits with auto TDC. Really like overleaping auto TDC numbers guidelines as game is real fun for me and not torture as SH3. Dynamic campaing works very well. It really compromise fun factor over SH3 strict and dull objectives. So for me SH5 is really good game and ubot sim i amd enjoying most. I throwed some basic mods in to enable missing keystrokes as return to course, Deep under keel, Range at current speed (this should really be under Navigator and sound boy dialogs). Enabled radio stations and gramophone just for immersion. Now what i dont like.

It is pretty obvious game was rushed to release very unfinished. There is a lot not used graphics, not enabled keyshortcuts, empty navigator dialog for commands like return to course. Incomplete UI as there is no way to simply click on compass. Morale bug after you reload game. Same with ubot skins that is not applied after save reload if you apply one for your renown. Watch crew stays on conn tower until last moment it is flooded. Cant do real deck awash as i cant access conn when under 6 m depth. Icons from mission stays when in pen. Even one can send status report to BDU from Captain log when in port pen. other small quirks. etc ... So i enjoying game in its state as is now and really hoping for patches that finish it into perfection.

I also "bought" some aditional camouflages on uplay for some upoints i earned for finishing first campaing "Total Germany". It was accessed via Uplay button in main menu and skins cost 20 upoints ( btw...a nybody know where i can find thatskins? I not have them in upgrade screen ). Also DRM. Yes i hate it but to be fair not have single problem with it. Works ok for me. So looks like most cry is from pirated game owners i think.

In the end i enjoying SH5 in its state now and waiting for pathes. Only time to show... if i was better to be angry for my money for unfinished game...

:sign_yeah: Good comments, thanks. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to rip into you.

The morale bug only affects the campaign and will be fixed in the next patch. There are a lot less problems with save games in SH5 than there ever were in SH3 or 4. As I said, relatively minor bugs.

I have played SH5 for 30+ hours now and have yet to see anything other than the type of minor bugs that accompany any new release.

What I have seen on the other hand is the impressive advancement to the code in many areas such as AI, sensors, campaign, single missions, sonar, etc.

I see what this game is very clearly, and I see a clear advancement over the SH3/4 code.

The ones who don't care are the ones so blinded by their hatred of DRM that they cannot see anything at all..:arrgh!:

You're not looking hard enough Bilge Rat. I've read reports, by people who haven't played the game, but have read the bug reports of those that have, that there are GAME BREAKING BUGS! You don't need to play for 30+ hours, in fact you can't, as the game is unplayable! How can you have played an unplayable game for 30+ hours? It makes no sense! Surely those that haven't played the game, but have read the bug reports of others must know what they are talking about? I don't know as much as them, as I've only played the game for many hours myself, but I was unable to spot the bugs that made the game unplayable and by some fluke managed to carry on playing the unplayable game.

It's got to the point now, that lots of threads talk about game breaking bugs, but I think I must be doing something wrong, because I'm enjoying the game..? I can't be playing the game if it has game breaking bugs in it can I? Surely all these people who haven't played the game, but have read the bug reports of others can't all be wrong? What the hell am I doing wrong to still be able to play this unplayable game?

I totally agree with you.

I've also read posts in this forum whining stuff that really doesn't affect me - like having to visit all the crew. I don't, I'm either on the bridge or inside the conning tower. I have no problem with the ladders , or going below to order a dive. The moral bug has been modded out , so that doesn't affect me..... the list goes on and on. Thats why I asked in another thread whether the guy bemoaning "game breaking bugs" had actually played the game, because I seriously doubt it sometimes.

People have said that they've tried the game then sent it back. I think thats a shame because given time I really think this game will shine.

I for one am having a great time playing it, don't regret buying it at all.

and Robbo180265 too....

...now back to my unplayable game, I hear a convoy...:arrgh!:

Pretty much my sentiment as well. This game is playable in vanilla, in fact, I'm waiting for the mods to settle out before even using any at this point. SH4 was unplayable at launch for me, and sparked my venture to the forums. Every time I had a radio message popping me out of TC, I had to wait five minutes for the log to close so I could TC for 10-20 seconds before the next five minute wait. Now that was game breaking! I've not encountered the like with SH5 yet, only some frustration looking for the controls I was used to, and a poor tutorial system.

I think SH5 will go down as the best in the series. The most immersion I have felt in a subsim since the AOTD days. We certainly need a serious patch or two from UBI, and mods and supermods, but this is one gem I have NO regrets buying.

Regards.

SH5 is very impressive so far. A few minor bugs, but no major issues.

I just came off the Pedestal mission where I tracked a task force underwater for six hours. I was sure I had missed it since I could see the carrier moving away, then it zigged back in my direction, allowing me a shot. I am now running deep at 170 meters while the escorts track me.

I haven't had this much fun in a long time with any sim. Best $49.99 investment I ever made.

I have played every SH since SH1, but this one is special. It won't take much time or TLC from the modders before SH5 is the new standard in submarine simulations.

...now back to the Med...:salute:

I agree 100%. Still in Happy Times here, but having a blast.

If you insist on playing vanilla the game has some "game breaking" bugs, IMO, but even a lightly modded game is quite playable.

So you mean I can say I like the game here, without getting attacked?

Nice to see a thread like this. :sunny:
