would be nice... but SOW BOB had been in development for YEARS!!!

Oleg has had plenty of time to make it pretty...

Burning ship in night - should cast "dancing shades" at u-boat fences, wires and deck guns.

Just a few visual features - could make SH5 "forever young" in 2011,2012...

Anyhow, it should be at least Dx10 engine...
:ping:

Ooooh those would look very nice. You know what, it never occured to me that we might be able to go up the ladder and onto the deck in first person. The whole time I only thought about walking to and fro in the boat.

Nice lighting in that BoB screen. God I've been waiting so long for that game! I don't think we need super realistic detailed dials that we would never really look at in SH5. Not to mention that most probably wouldn't be functional in SH5 anyway.

The lighting though, in the sub, I don't think it matters much, but a realistically lit environment would be nice. I want silent hunter to have waves that really glisten.

Is it just me or is silent hunter 4 really dark? SH4 forces me to up my brightness/gamma/contrast. No it's not for cheating! It's just impossible for me to see much in that game with my normal display settings.

You Ain't Got No Legs Lieutenant Dan!!!

But Yes i would like to see light comeing in from uptop when the hatch is open, when on surface of course.

I kinda agree with this, but the main difference between a plane and a u-boat is that in a plane the player spends all his time in the cockpit, thus this level of detail is justified. In a U-boat, the player arguably spends most of his time looking at maps or other 2D screens and only a limited amount of time on the surface. Being able to see reflections off rivets 500 yards away might be very nice, but hardly as essential in a subsim as in a flightsim...imho...

Ahhh the pilot is taking a photagraph of his instruments, you dont see his hands because he is holding the camera -a very advanced camera it is too for that era. :haha:

i think the intention of SH5 is to change this.

Wow, a Gloster Gladiator reference. Nicely done.

Poor little Gladiator, hardly remembered, but was actually a contender against the BF-109 due to its tighter turning radius.

Nice homage to a tough little fighter.

kptn_kaiserhof 10-28-09 10:38 PM

hey guys why so many refrences to ( sub vs plane sims )

this is subsim.com not flightsim.com

Hardly an contender against the 109. The tighter turn radius was it's only advantage, but as someone so rightly put it "In dogfight, speed is life". Being able to outturn your enemy is not relevant when the enemy has advantage in all other areas and ultimately dictates the rules of the fight.

Gladiator was one beautiful plane and did put up one helluva fight, but it had become obsolete years before the start of WWII. It's successes were against the german and italian bombers. Where it was against fighters, it usually came back home badly beaten. Simply put: Gladiators lost virtually all their operations with the planes either falling to enemy hands or being destroyed in the air or in the ground.

Could we just have some descent bloody graphics . Mainly in the sea/ water rendering and landscape/building area . They already said photo realistic subs so i hope this will extend to ships as well .

x10

The landscapes and architecture look like graphics from the early 90's.
