If they'd let me play at work, I'd do a 1x patrol. Something tells me that would be bad for my continued employment, however. ;)

You can try induce your employer that this game is inspireing you to work harder :haha: But I can almost guarantee you woun't avoid strange looks from him at you after that :)

Currently I'm at grid AN3655 keeping course 266 it's already night and first unkown contact has been spoted. However I raised SH3 window about 10 minutes later which was minimized and I couldn't hear the Shiff Gesichted message, so it was a delay of actions.

Visibility was 9 km at clear night but I couldn't see the target because of delay.

Chase has begun. Changed course to last known position flank speed, after 5 minutes periscope deapth full stop and I listen. Small ship engine could be heard, adjusted course, surface the boat, flank speed. About five minutes later I spoted dark smoke appearing above the horizon, it was:

I was almost sure it's neutral but I was too eager to make sure to let him go so I continued to chase him. It took quite a while since he was moving away from me doing his best at 9 knts :)

As I approached close enough to be able to see the flag it turned out to be Norwegian vessel..

Made a U-turn and droped the speed to ahead standard..
Continuing patrol.

The main clock always shows Zulu Time, AKA Greenwich Mean Time, AKA the time at 0 degrees longitude. The "Local Time" shows...well, you know. It's a cool SH3 function that SH4 managed to break.

Good luck!!!

My small kids nor wife would never allow me to do this - plus I don't have the patience.

I try as much as i can to play "Real Time" I only speed up time when Im bored..but I actually like the sound of the waves and the possibility of the guys on watch screaming @ me while Im doing things around the house.

I often, when alone on Sundays(wife works and my day off) turn off everything in the house and just take a nap on the sofa next to the computer. The sounds of the waves crashing against the hull is actually kinda nice to fall asleep too. Not often but on occasion I am awaken from my sleep with "SHIP SPOTTED". Kinda kool If you have the time. (sometimes my sleep is too deep and well you know the outcome) :)

My wife thinks im insane when I drop to 80meters turn on the record player for the crew and then go to sleep. But thats SH3 for yaa!

Good Luck on your Real Time Patrol :)

One side effect about weather occurs when doing RTP, I think it never changes if the game is saved within 24 hours.. So I'm having a good weather for the third day already :)

I've read where U-Boats always kept their clocks on German Time with the watches and ship routine based on that no matter what the "local" time was. They may be eating lunch at noon ship's time and the sun could be coming up outside while off the coast of the US.

One day, I wpould love to attempt a Real Time Patrol but wife, kids, and job make that extremely unlikely. I suppose the most likely chance would be to do one in a Type II in the North Sea.

So I guess, for now, I have to live vicariously through others.:DL

:)

First kill:

Grid AN34. It appeared on my nav map around 35 km away. So I changed course and was heading to check him out. Appeared to be British small freighter. Shelled him with deck gun.

Continuing patrol :)

i kinda play like TIGERSHARK 808 . When I.m alone or its late at nite ( my time ) I play at 1x just to here the waves and listen to the gramophone ( got about 300 songs in there , that I downloaded from various players collections on this forum ) . I also like to watch my boat external views too ( via the < > keys ). The sofa is next to my computer so I can catch a lite nap and listen . But once I fell asleep and was sunk . That made the bloopers thread !
