I will try to save the game on the surfaced with the game on pause. If I reload a save game that has ships nearby, but not in visual, they will be "spotted" for the first few seconds of a reload. This can be detrimental as they can also "spot" you, even if you are way beyond visual range. I know purists might scoff at me but I usually save as soon as I find a contact and then again after I make my "end around" w/ a different file name. Have file names like "too close" or "way too close" because I realize that I'm taking a chance with the save file.

Definately NOT a save issue. I played a test scenario yesterday and the same result: S boat depth charged. It happens when the trim pump gets damaged. Using externals, the stern gets heavy then the boat levels out, then stern heavy again. While this is going on, the compressed air gauge shows a loss. Compressed air within an hour was down to 12%. When I reached the surface, the diesel engines did not work. No save, played the scenario for a little over an hour. Some time compression to 32x. Fuel level was at 25%. Diesels were not damaged at all.
Other bugs cropped up as well: When I tried damage control, the guy who fixes the valves in the back of the control room is just a head with a levitating wrench!!!:o No body! :88). Also, the crew wont stop yelling even after the crisis is over.... Maybe this is just an S boat phenomena. I do play TMO 1.7. Maybe this has something to do with it. Any other ideas...? thanks |
Webster's list is a holdover from the bad old SH3 days and has no application to SH4. Yes, you may get a graphics glitch like bow planes that don't rig out but your boat will behave just fine. I completely ignore context when I save games, and have even saved with a torpedo in the water on the way to a target. It just works.

I remember the days of walking on egg shells with SH3's save.
Using RFB and 1.5, I haven't had a problem yet saving wherever I happen to be, with whatever happens to be going on around me. *knocks on wood*. |
