King and Rook versus King is a well-known 100% win. Why the discussion?

For example:

Because TteFAboB asked a perfectly reasonable question.

A discussion instead of one sufficient answer that would have been enough? That's true European spirit!

I was about the long thread, not about the starting question. If he is a rookiein chess it is perfectly legal and clever to ask questions.

Thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any tanks, so I had to go ahead and pressed the big red button, nuking the board.

No, the game wasn't timed because Chess Titans doesn't give you that option...:) But at least one of the rules SUBMAN posted seem to apply, as when I was about to make the last move to put an end to the waltzing the game ended in a draw. Too many useless moves, I suppose.

The thing is I couldn't get the prison thing to work because I'd keep close to the black king, attempting to lock him down already, then he'd just move aggressivey towards the Rook to push it away. With more patience and with my king blocking his moves I finally managed to imprison him, following Hakahura's children guide and Skybird's overkill move list.

Your welcome.

Oh Skybird.....

I'M NOT EUROPEAN!

I'm British, there is still a difference.

Key is to delay tempos (the Rook can reach a far away field not in just one straight move, but in two or three or four, if you wish, bringing the oponnent's king into need to make an unfavourable move!), and king's close (and eventually distant) opposition. check that first "overkill move" list  carefully, it was how the computer played it, since I wanted a move list fast, and do not consider the constellation to be a problem.
And this is how i for example played it, fast and on the fly, to illustrate to you the use of winning tempos by king's opposition:

Note that I lost a move in the early moves.

Yes, the British take the lead in PC madness, and the rest of europe is following them!

anyway, I did not meant it that serious, and just was referring to Europe as a joke. I thought you were Japanese. :p
