Mad as Hell, Ain't Takin' It No More
|
Hi Captains,
in the next Upgrade many vessels are reworked. Most SH3 ships i have used for FOTRS now got an damage-model like SH4 Ships. That means that you can see the damaged interior of an ship. The light crusier CL 51 USS Atlanta also is an new model in the upgrade. http://www.aotd-flottille.de/Maddy/S...AtlantaRL1.jpg http://www.aotd-flottille.de/Maddy/S...AtlantaRL2.jpg http://www.aotd-flottille.de/Maddy/S...AtlantaRL3.jpg Regards Maddy |

Thanks Subron! One of my favorites, right now it's my desktop background. I love the badass look on the pilot's face. An unflinching expression which says: Yea, though I walk through the valley of death, I shall fear no evil. For I am the meanest sonuva bitch in the valley.

Ya know, that screenshot would provide some pretty stiff competition in the Screenshot Comps over at the Ubi SHIV Forums.

Competition?
Hmmm. Despite my artistic aversion to crass competitions, perhaps I will have to check that out. Thanks for the heads-up.
Here's one that shows the effect of a rare direct bomb hit on a Destroyer's bow. Love the damage texturing. Wish all ships had the same kinds of textures. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/pict...pictureid=1301 |
Extra! Secret Air Corp Experiments Flop!
The Top Secret tests involved an attempt to develop a submersible airplane. The Army and Navy are tight-lipped about the matter, but a whistle-blower from within the program who asked to remain anonymous had this to say:
"The idea was nuts from the start. It was nothing but a waste of good money, machines, and a few good pilots. That Dr., what's his name, sic Frankenfurter or something, he dreamed it up. What do you expect from a whacked-out transplanted Kraut anyway?" The scientist referred to is actually one Dr. Klaus Flugendorf, an emigre from Germany who fled the food. Yes, that's right, not the Nazis, the food. Flugendorf, nicknamed Crazy Klaus, was unavailable for comment as it is rumored that he is being treated at a federal psychiatric facility. Included is the only extant photograph of the Sub-Plane trials. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/pict...pictureid=1302 As you can see, the plane is actually a nearly unmodified Wildcat Fighter plane. Experts shown the photo were aghast and said the tests were fatally flawed. "Doomed to catastrophe," one said. "Insane in its inception," said another, who added: "Just plain Bughouse-crazy." |
Is the TMO version of RSRDC compatible with this mod?
If not, are the FOTRS scripted campaign layers historically accurate? Thanks for any replies. |
@ HCMS
i have reworked some scripted campaign layers. For example in the battle of midway now you can see the real Kaga and the Akagi. I also have changed some US-Ships. There are no Carriermodel doubled. Regards Maddy |
OK, thanks for getting back to me. I assume that the layers for the Battles Of Guadalcanal, Santa Cruz, The Phillipine Sea and Leyte Gulf are essentially stock?
What do you suppose would happen if one was to cherry-pick these battles from RSRDC(TMO) and load them seperately? |

Hmm you can try it but i havent look into the files from RSRDC. You have to notice that the most campaign-files from FOTRS are based on TMO. That means that some of them should be compatible. Test it mate, more than an CTD could not happen :rotfl2: Regards Maddy |
@nedlow
I would love to see you enter the Screenshot Comps over at the UBi Forums. It always is nice to have some some fresh insight. :yeah: |
OK, I've got some useful feedback.

@HCMS
Thanks mate for your testing ! Please send me a response of the medalfix ! Regards Maddy |
2 Questions;
1.How do I install Hogan's Alley? 2.How do I fix it so I can start with the Full-Tub Conning Tower instead of the Half-Tub? |
FOTRS & OM
Are these two mods (FOTRS and Operation Monsun) compatible? If not, is FORTS compatible with any other ATO mod?
Thanks, rea00cy |

I have experience the BOG down as well. Normally it starts bogging down during a patrol after completing 6-7 objectives. It is almost like you are hauling all the tonnage you sent to the bottom on your boats deck but this isn't what I am here to talk about.
I have tried mods like RFB, TMO, RSRD, FotRS and many more. One thing that none of them deal with is Operation Ultra and the onboard Crypto(Cypher) gear. The ECM MK-2 communication crypto was "eccential" to submarine communication. Submarine Commanders, XO, Radiomen had orders specific to its destruction if running in water less then 600' deep called, "the 100 phathem rule". That means, if you are sent on a Photo-Recon of some port, you would not reciece any further encrypted radio intel on convoy/task force movements> You would not be able to report any sightings without pinpointing your location to everyone listening until the EMC MK-2 was replaced. I know the ECM MK-2 was classified top secret until 1995 but there is information about the ECM MK-2 that is now available. Here is a link to a good video that touches on this subject. Are there any plans to bring this into game play? Oops! to many windows open. Thought I was posting in RSRDC forum... -TheBeast |
I'm running V 1.3 and love it! Thank you for including the Nagato.
Was wondering if this was intended. In the control room, I have an officer in the first slot, but in 3D, a petty officer is in his place by the chart table. Kind regards *edit* this does not happen with the S class. |
Just tried this mod after having spent some time playing with OM.
Incredible. Love it ! :ping: The rule is the 100 fathoms rule (1 fathom = 6 feet, it's a unit of depth used by combat scuba divers - the first water resistant watch was designed for the English Scuba Commandos, the Blancpain 50-fathoms, first ever to work under water on wrist) |
