Rucco you and Mudpig should get together and work out some new files to replace the old. If We can stop the random sinking we can apply a "general Armor" to the rest of the ship that is somewhat realistic. Yes it wont be 100% but at least the ship will operate somewhat like a real ship and closer to the way submarines operate in the game (damage wise). If you know what the hitboxes are could you apply a common armor value to each one and release those files so that they can be tested/improved on? Obviously later we can add the true armor values to each hitbox later to denote a true player kill but right now alot of people are more concerned with getting the ship to stay afloat and to get the damage properly working. If you've got that then that is awesome and you have at least one dedicated tester who has the time to work out any other bugs in the files that may have occured from what ever reason. :smug:

To the rest I encountered another bug... I have 0 HE shells, well ok I have 150 but when I shoot nothing happens, the screen shakes like it shot, but there is no smoke, there is no damage to the target and there is no splashes, and No i'm not in time compression (although thats what it acts like) I do however have the AP and AA shells which act like they have in previous releases.

Also if someone could figure out how the AA shells work (that is, fire from each barrel independently and leave their respective barrels) that would be awesome as I have a crew that reloads the 11inchers unrealistically fast (basically like the AA's from the 11 inchers is about the time it takes to reload and fire 3 at a time!) I wonder if there is a way to change the crew files so the "Sharpshooter" passive ability can not increase the rate of firing so signfigantly?

Also what about the crashes with the Submarine commands (Periscope Depth, Crash Dive (which actually crashes the game not the Sheer/Graf Spee), surface, and emergency surface)? Any insight there? I would work out the kinks with the current release but the sinking randomly makes proper testing very difficult :)

Even with the 1.1 i am still having problems. for e3xample. there 2 or 3 missions where i start of the and the graf scheer is already half under water and she is sinking from the start. i cant keep her up. i thik there is only 2 missions hwere she starts high in the water. any ideas?

Herr I managed to mitigate the effects temporarily if you can keep it above 30ft. Use the Damage Control Crew to repair it, but important to note is when they fall asleep, if you change your speed at all you go under again.

This is incredibly annoying so I await the next fix with bated breath :)

you have to open the missio with the missions editor and then you set the player's submarine depth to 0, then saving and your surfaced.

Guys,

I totally can't reproduce random sinking...hmmm. Played a whole "Feindfahrt" in the Campaign. Runs like a charm, besides from I ran into a BB in the fog and a 16" shell spelled doom on me, my engines died an the they gave me the rest. I just can't get the engines linked the right compartment. :damn: If anyone has some expirience with this, help is appricated. :oops:

The problem isnt being surfaced at the start the problem is keeping the ship on the surface. It randomly sinks from time to time with 0 damage taken.

Mudpig try running just stock 1.5 and Xantro's PBB and your latest update. Thats what I did to test it and that is how I got the random sinking.

Never had problems like "sinking ship"...I'm using Xantro 1.1 original, without Mudpig flak upgrade ( I made my own)... but I admit the 88mm is failing me. Should,'t this type of gun make a "cloud" explosion in the sky. I've set the 88 double cannons as AA guns with AA shells but I do not see the effect..

Any idea about making the control room manned in all positions? I would like also a navigation officer an a first engineer in my controo room.
How to do that?

If nothing else you can use the Particle.dat from my mod, I made the Explosion of those Flak shells bigger so they are more visible. You might change LOD in the same file to see them further away.

Btw, I don't have random sinking and I use fresh 1.5 + Xantros PBB + Latest of my Mod. Runs like a charm exept , and that because of the damage model, when a BB gets to me I mostly go down to the bottom in 2 hits. But DD's can't get through armor, I let them shot me like 30 minutes straight and all they did is to wipe out all my Flak and the Arado :yep:.

BTW while i am looking to make the damage model working on my own (maybe i'll take a look to your mod) i have overpowered the armor value and HP. Nothing can send me down:arrgh!: !

However, as soon as I have some time, I will try to make the damage system work like the in the stock submarines.
How is going with your damage model, BTW? I hear it's quite well done..:up:

Mudpig, I reinstalled UBM and I havent sunk randomly since. I've played for about 2 hours now. I did however get low enough in the water to activate the ship sinking sound (which is now on loop... for some strange reason.) Back to comerce raiding it is!

I did notice one little bug that occured. I switched to the Battery Life remaining tab (with the fuel and that stuff) and went back to fuel and lost the indicator for the fuel level so even though I have fuel There is no fuel bar! (If I hover over it I still get my xx/100 fuel level) Just a minor thing.

I will double check the damage taken stuff. I did take on several T3 tankers and live with no engine troubles or anything, so far so good :)

I've been wondering a while in the particles.dat folder, i want the bigger and more dark flak clouds mostly for all weapons, but im not sure what values i have to adjust to make the changes i wish for.

AAGun_Explosion i take it is.. If someone can instruct me further, please do.

I wount have much time to tweak my damage model before the end of next week. Life could be a pain.

What so ever, I have flooding show and the Bulkheads get blown and can be repaired. How to link components like the Diesels or Propellers eludes me atm. :damn: A matter of time I think. If anyone can provide a working damage model I gladly use that one, but as long there is no such thing I keep trying to get mine up and running.

Take your time the current release is functional although the engines being damaged and what not by merchant fire hitting the superstructure does get old. I just know that when I start slowing down and the props are still spinning its time to get the heck out :)


Downloading the video from Mega upload, so that worked. The other video was great!

Mudpig I do have a question, is it possible to change the color of the main gun smoke from the bright (I see you at night) white to the black that it's supposed to be? The small guns are ok as white but the main guns really need to be darker or black :)

So far the current release is stable which is good. The only bug being the engines slowing down after x amount of "damage" which I find hard to believe being as the engines are burried deep in the ship and the "Damage" is all on the exterior. I did manage to have the hull damage appear, but I had to ram an Exploding T3 Tanker to do it, and in the process it took out my props and my engines! (Thats frustrating!) As you can see I'm really putting the damage model to the test :D Moral of that storey is dont shoot the T3 tanker before you ram it :D

The Gun smoke is also in the particle.dat as are the materials for 3dparticels are in materials.dat - so if you trace the ID's to the corresponding materials it should be possible to make the effect darker even black. You might give it a try or I do as soon as I can reach my PC :cry:

Hey I got my G/F to send me the two files I needed per E-Mail. I quickly twinked the material.dat here and there. I think the blast looks much better now.
