The Merchant took a single G7a (G39a) almost perfect to the midship, followed by ~ 60 HE and ~ 30 AP rounds, still afloat...:hmmm::hmmm::hmmm:
Those guys must have the best damage control on the Planet, I mean the guys on the USS Franklin (CV-13) were good, but they ain't got **** on this ship's crew.

(I'll try ramming maybe a Type VIIB to the broadside make a big enough hole to sink it :salute:)

Ah...you probably found the last remaining Uber ship with crazy hit points...from memory some OM ships had more than 4000 hit points!...while average ships hit points should be around 600. Had to lower all those ships hit points, but obviously i missed one...

Easy fix would be to find this ship in sea folder, open his .zon file and lower the 4000 hit points to a reasonable value as 600 :up:

I think I found another bug, it is September 1941 and I have not been given any turm upgrades or sub upgrades since the start of the war. Still stuck in a VIIB?

Well that is SH4 bug coupled with OM mod.
The VIIB turm 2 should be available beginning 42.
If not, I’m afraid you have to start new career with desired boat, and same actual date, and manually get back your renown...

It is march 1943 and I have been given no upgrades either if it is by the turm upgrade or boat upgrade or in the equipment menu. still the same stuff since 1939. Is there a way I could fix this without starting a new carrier?

I just got the turm upgrade but it removed alot of my crew, I dont have a radio room compartment anymore and in the upgrade menu I cant change the deck gun or anything but the aa guns and emblem.

It was the turm ungrade issue, the tutorial on how to fix it must be rewritten, It is so confussing to read and do. If anyone wants to do it and do it with pictures of even video form that will help alot.


I have done it but I didnt do it properly, in the equipment upgrade menu in port it doesnt show up (the second flak gun) but i can asign crew to it and I cant see it in external cam and on the damage screen it is there but I cannot change it .

Third update, so i got it working from just messing about, Step 7 doesnt make sense because I do not have a UPCInitial folder, when I loaded my save, my hydrophone was upgraded to the crystal one and I had been given BOLD 1 even though I did not have it before.

I just wish there was a program that could automate it, like you create the save and the dummy file and you just tell the program where each AUPU is and it does the file editing for you.

There's not a whole lot of people doing programming for the SH Games now days.

My english is not that good enough to explain the details of those upgrade fails in OM, but I’m quite certain our friend Propbeanie would tell you successfully :yep:

If I remember correctly (now, seriously, how often has ~that~ happened lately... :roll: ) - but from memory (and correct me if I'm wrong please), there are equipment mis-matches between the turms and attached equipment (aka: "appurtenances"), such as radar masts and the like. The Pacific side had the same issue, but with OM, it is a herculean task to match everything. There are a LOT of turms and a LOT of appurtenances... :roll: Wintergardens do not help, I'm sure... Don't forget that most of the subs in OM are all set to the same "UpgradeClass" setting in their upcge files, so you generally do not get submarine upgrades. :salute:

A program that just does the file editing for you because that is the most difficult part for me. Also how come I cannot get equipment upgrades. When I fixed my turm upgrade issue, I had BOLD 1 and a upgraded Hydrophone that I did not have access to before. How does one unlock equipment upgrades and how does one get a new sub, I have been getting medals for every patrol but the game wont give me a new sub yet. It is the middle of 1942 btw.

The new equipment comes by date usually. Some mods have it to where you can "buy" them early for renown points, but not all do. You also have to be at a location that has the equipment "available". I cannot remember for certain where the "center" of availability is on the German side, but Kiel sticks in my mind. The equipment emanates from there and flows outward, such that if something is available on June 1, 1943, that means at Kiel, while it might be August in Norway and France. A caveat for the equipment availability is that you have to have a proper "mounting" point for it on your submarine. So a radar that needs a particular mast that is not available on a VIIB will never show there. However, the VIIC might have the proper mast, and you get the radar. I do not recall if that example is the case in OM or Dark Waters, but the principle applies. Lastly, OM does not have boat upgrades until you qualify for a Walthers. There are no "steps" through the boats in OM other than that, which carries into Dark Waters.

Downloaded and using this mod for a little while and have a couple of questions.


1st question: when selecting a Type II boat (September 1939), it shows as having the GHG, but when submerged, I can't detect anything, it seems if it is too rough. I hear ownship at 180 degrees, but am not hearing anything else either at the hydrophone station, or with hydro-lines on the nav map. Conditions at the time were rough seas, wind speed 15 m/s and visual targets about 6500 meters away at around 290 degrees relative. Is this expected behavior?



2nd question - how much traffic should I expect to find? Other than in homeport and transiting in friendly waters, there doesn't seem to be much at all. In my first patrol, I saw a single merchant while in the dover strait (couldn't stalk it since it was too shallow to pursue while submerged). 2nd patrol, two small steam trawlers (the above-mentioned targets not detectable via GHG) in AM55, and 2 aircraft. Saw nothing in the Skaggerak on the return to Kiel. Max TC while patrolling was 128.

You may have to dive deeper when 15m/s on surface to hear something.
Nevertheless it is known that in OM, if the ship is going very slow, nothing can be heard in hydrophone (but hydro man can hear it).

As for traffic, i never had problem finding ships everywhere. Maybe not as much as in LSH3 for instance...

As to traffic - maybe instead of x128, I can try x32 TC.
