Here is a thread from year back after I did work on No Magic Skills. Some one wanted me to unlock the sound coats but I found out they were already unlocked in the Equipment Upgrade patch. It not explained that they are working but they are.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=193313

If I remember from those times, that picture he had doesn't match the patch and hot fix, some things moved around.

I will check the dates in the files and post them here.

Thanks for working on this raven 2012.
Something else bugged me about upgrade pack equipment dates. I can not dedicate any time for it.

According to the picture by the beast in the original mod TheBeast - Equipment_Upgrades_Fix, availability dates of alberich impoved, tarnmattte, tarnmattte improved are showing up earlier than expected in a campaign.

Sober fixed a lot in Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 (available by date) V9 mod, but do others see dates still wrong for the sound coatings, like I do?
My related mod order just for equipment:
Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_main mod
Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1_& then HotFix
Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 (available by date) V9 mod.

Would you have time to fix this if there is no mistake on my part?

Raven_2012 01-08-14 12:43 PM

Yeah I see what you were saying with dates. That has been like that, the dates in Equipment Patch and hot fix never match the picture. There is some stuff that comes out a year early with coatings.

Even in Equipment Upgrade patch they don't match photo. There was reason why some were moved the come out earlier. I'm sure it was debated in early threads back then.

The problem is in the picture, it needed to be updated a long time ago. Original Equipment upgrade match the photo, but he did a patch and hot fix right away and never updated picture. This was a problem back then. The photo is sort of a rough estimate.

If someone could update the mod to match the chart , I cannot understand it .
Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 (available by date) V9 by sober

for example should the Fumo29 dated look like this to match the chart ?

Well either the photo needs updated.

Shouldn't TheBeast fix it and update it since its his mod. Or doesn't he work on this mod anymore?

I do agree Equip mod needs to been gone through with a comb and straighten some things up. I find a lot of mod inconsistencies are from it needing to be polished up.

Unless someone knows the exact date that each camo scheme was adopted, I think that changing the chart or changing camo's availability dates are pretty equivalent. I know for a fact that TheBeast changed stock availability dates for a simple (non-historical) reason: allowing people to test different equipment from the beginning :yep:

I agree. I think some equipments don't work yet, upgrade dates and reward costs need for a rebalance (sober's 'available by date' patch is a good base to start from), and some of the previews used for new equipment (the miniatures shown in the upgrade selection menu), need to be redone for matching better the style of stock images.

Unfortunately during the last year TheBeast has had a very sporadical activity, but I am sure he wouldn't have anything in contrary if someone released a patch refining the unfinished features of his awesome mod.

Raven_2012 01-08-14 07:58 PM

Patching it wouldn't be best thing. Best to fix it from the inside out, go in core and redo most of it or whole. Combine the base, patch, hot fox and sobers fix into one unit. A good platform to base future patches onto. Where they add to mod or change something small, instead of going in and fixing major stuff.

I personally would rather combine the main mod, patch and hot fix in one download. That's what I personally have for my own game. A good way to get organized. I hate clutter and things all over. Makes it better for mod and for future people who come along and want to change something. Less headaches.

This mod is like the core of all mods, its the most important one to get game functioning from the non-visual aspect of the game.

I might pick at it a little bit and see what can be done.

Raven_2012 01-08-14 08:21 PM

Heres one thing I caught in my game.

I only combined:

Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1
#Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1_HotFix

I forgot to get the original one:

Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_byTheBeast

Everything is so spread out. It was fine back then because I knew about all three files, but coming back and everything is all over, I forgot and got confused. Not good for new player.

Raven_2012 01-08-14 08:28 PM

Yeah here is original upgrade chart in the Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_byTheBeast Documention. Quickly looking over it this one seems correct in some ways.

And here is the one everyone sees on the main forum page.

Patching some of the EUF files and releasing them as an EUF 'expansion' wouldn't entail any other attention than aknowleging TheBeast for his work. Putting the mod 'inside out' and re-releasing it a stand-alone mod, on the contrary, would require a written permission by TheBeast himself. :hmmm:

In any case I agree with you on the need to merge the various patches, fixes and hotfixes into a single package. It is just a matter of letting windows to overwrite the old files, but it would avoid confusion to the newcomers and possible JSGME-induced errors :yep:

For a start we need to get equipment availability dates historically correct. I don't trust stock dates, and I think that sober's dates (sover, correct me if I am wrong :)) are based on stock settings.

Once we get those dates, entering them in game and uptading the chart accordingly is a minor work :yep:

P.S: I think we are in the wrong thread

Yeah I am moving further conversations over there.

Alright I got everything squared away with AFFOE mod. I made it compatible with two current popular mods. I haven't tested them, but they should work. Let me know if they work.

Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 (available by date) V9 by sober
&
R.S.D. - Reworked Submarine Damage v5.5 by vdr1981

***Made compatible by Raven_2012
***I am not taking credit in mod creations, just in making AFFOE compatible with other mods.

================================================== ========

I renamed the folders so it wont get confusing on which ones to use and which ones you have.

They are all compatible with Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1_HotFix

There are 3 folders to pick from. In each is the AFFOE mods with optional weathered ones.

Just choose the one that matches the mods you have installed. Right now they are if you using:

Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 (available by date) V9 by sober

R.S.D. - Reworked Submarine Damage v5.5 by vdr1981

Or Both.

I ended up doing a seperate one for Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 (available by date) V9 by sober
just in case someone isn't using that mod. Personally I think it should be a no brainer addition.

The most common options to choose from are:

1). AFFOE_v1.51_EUF(available by date) V9 by sober

Or

2). AFFOE_v1.51_R.S.D.&EUF(available by date) V9 by sober

================================================== ========

The folder you want to use should be installed last in JSGME or in this order:

Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1_HotFix
Equipment_Upgrades_Fix_v1_4_Patch_1 (available by date) V9 by sober
R.S.D. - Reworked Submarine Damage v5.5 by vdr1981
AFFOE_v1.51_R.S.D.&EUF(available by date) V9 by sober
A Fistful of Emblems v1.51 (Weathered)

Disable this mod if you have it:
Equip_Upgrades_Fix_1_4_Patch_1_AFFOE_151
Its already integrated in this download.

Hey y'all not trying to necro this thread or anything but it seems the download link no longer works... Does anyone have a link that does or a recommendation for an alternate emblems mod? Thanks!

I have the mod in one of my old HDs. Since it was one of the downloads available directly from subsim, I will wait some of the administrators to fix the link. If it wont happen in a short time, I will re-up the mod myself. :salute:
