This mod is an update and addition to my STzTrampSteamerFix 1.2 In addition to some new adjustments to the Tramp Steamer/Coastal Merchant fix, I have also included fixes to several other (mainly merchant) ships that seem to have sinking problems in heavy seas--especially when used with SH3 Commander's higher wave adjustment feature. Now these ships can be used even with wave heights that are 2X higher than stock (actually 1.875).
The following ships have had their .sim files altered in order to better handle higher waves:
NKSQ Coastal Merchant
NLSQ Tramp Steamer
NGRA Granville Type Freighter
NLST Landing Ship Tank
NLOL Ceramic Type Ocean Liner (Less roll instituted since this is a passenger liner)
NKC3 BR Large Cargo (C3 Cargo ship: mass and surface_displacement increased so ship sits lower in water and
looks less bulky)
In addition, some ships have had their .cfg or en.log files, or both, changed so that they match the ship's .sim file. This was done because previous mods, including GWX 2.1, often contained several discrepancies between the .sim, .cfg, and .log files. Now, if a ship has a draft of 6.9 meters in its .sim file, you can be sure that the correct draft will also be listed in the ship's Recognition manual. I have tested these changes and have not noted any significant problems arising because of them. Nevertheless, if you do not wish to include my changes to the .cfg or .log files, simply delete these from each of the above ships folder before you enable the mod with JSGME. Also, if you become dissatisfied with the performance of any of the ship models while using this mod, simply uninstall the mod via JSGME, delete the appropriate ship folder, and reinstall.
Note 1: This mod was tested primarily in high sea conditions. Unusual effects are possible (although are not expected) in calm sea conditions. Please report any problems or unusual behavior to me at subsim.com. Also, if you have any suggestions for any other ships that you would like to see better handle the high seas, please let me know.
Note 2: If you utilize SH3 Commander to increase the wave factor to 2X stock and you continue to see ships sinking after using this mod, try reducing the wave factor to a maximum of 1.75. Please see the documentation that comes with SH3 Commander for details on how to do this.
Good hunting!

STzTrampSteamerFix 1.2
Update: I think I have solved most of the problems with the tramp steamer with this update. The key appears to be adusting the ratio between two variables: mass and surface_displacement, along with a small increase to a variable named fr_ratio (not sure exactly what this variable does; my best guess is that it effects the "bounciness" of the ship on the waves). Even though the model is substantially improved, it is not perfect. These ships will eventually founder, no matter what changes you make to the files.

Greetings, Kaleuns!
This mod is intended to be used with SH3 GWX 2.1, although it should work fine with other mods and SH3 stock, as well.
The file is JSGME ready, simply unzip to your \Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\Mods folder and install via JSGME.
The purpose of this mod is to fix the slowly sinking ship behavior of the tramp steamer that tends to occur in heavy seas, giving you, the Captain, instead of mighty Neptune himself, the opportunity to send said vessel to a watery grave! I have tested this fix and it seems to work, so give it a try! Of course, please report back to me at subsim.com if you encounter any problems or notice any unusual behavior. Good hunting!
Sincerely,
Subtype_Zero
