Description
Silent Speed Mod by Payoff

This Mod will add:
* A new forward speed, 50 rpm,(about 1.5 knots) to the existing 5 forward speeds, in exchange for 1 of your reverse speeds.
(I rarely if ever, use any of the reverse speeds, and then only for docking in port, so for me the tradeoff was easy)

* New engine telegraphs & mini dial with a 50 rpm slot, in all compartments,in all boats, that can be ordered via mouse click 2D,
& 3D (on the telegraph at the helm), or keyboard command. Based on Oak_Grooves wonderful "Bordinstrumente 1.0 "
" Funkraum Upgrade for Bordinstrumente 1.0 mod " and "CA's UBoat Instrument Patch V1.0" by Captain America.

I have divided ahead slow into two slots: Ahead slow / Silent speed.
Back full has been traded for 50 rpm.
I do not claim this to be a prototypical engine telegraph, but rather,an attempt to give the player easier access to his
boats speed settings within the limitations of SHIII.

Keyboard Commands: ~= Silent Speed,6= All Stop,7 = Back Slow,8 = Back Standard &9 = Back Emergency.

* New custom speech files, 3 each using all 9 different voices (English), edited using existing dialogue to say:

Normal - " Yes Sir, Silent Speed "

Heightened
State (yells) - " Speed One Knot "

Silent
Running
(whispers) - " Yes Sir, Rig For Silent Speed "

Remaining "reverse order" speech files renamed to reflect new speed settings.

* New matching text in the text window to mirror the ordered speed. (English)

* The ability to custom tune each boat to what you thinkSilent Speed should be, (sub.cfg file) and then get that exact rpm
setting every time you order 50 rpm. This can be very handy in the chaos of a depth charge attack, when you need to add
a little power to maneuver,then go silent again. Silent Speed is now just a keystroke away.
(Say goodbye to mouse clicking on the little knot meter, and say hello to the tilde key. ~)

This Mod was created and tested on SHIII 1.4b Vanilla (heavely sprinkled with mods by some of you from Subsim and myself) so in an effort to not break anything in either of the great Super Mods, I am listing every file I have changed so you can decide if this mod will conflict with your setup.

I have placed the Texture files & Sound files in JSGME format. The SUB.cfg files and En_menu should probably be edited manually to avoid conflicts. Just copy and paste the sections I have included.(My sub.cfg files include my first mod here "Decks Awash" & other custom depth settings. I have only included the Engine Properties to avoid confusion, as by now I'm sure everyone has thier own preferences for these).

MODIFIED FILES LIST

Textures: SHIII/data/Menu/GUI/Layout/DialsFdb (Mini Dials, Engine Telegraph is the only change)

SHIII/data/Textures/TNormal/tex/7cIC_tbd_1 (U-boat interior gauges, Engine Telegraph is the only thing changed )
21IC_tbd_1
cadrane_radio_7
cadrane_radio_9
cadrane_radio_21
CR9C_1
int_2
int_7
int_21

Sounds: SHIII/data/Sound/Speech_En/ChE_K_All_Stop.OGG - Folders 1 thru 9 (Changed the Chiefs response in all 3 states _K _P & _S for All Stop, Back Slow, Back Standard & Back Full)
(Changed to)
FILE NAME WHAT YOU HEAR

ChE_K_All_Stop = Silent Speed
" " Back Slow = All Stop
" " Back Standard = Back Slow
" " Back Full = Back Standard

If anyone would like to have a go at the German Sound files as per above, that would be great.

Menu: SHIII/data/Menu/en_menu.txt (For the text window, these are the lines I have changed)

1010=Silent speed (Search for the numbered entry then copy/paste this block in its place)
1011=Ahead slow
1012=Ahead one third
1013=Ahead standard
1014=Ahead full
1015=Ahead flank
1016=All stop
1017=Back slow
1018=Back standard
1019=Back emergency

SUB CFG: SHIII/data/Submarine/NSS_Uboat2A/NSS_Uboat2A.CFG (All Boats, the last entry at the bottom of the file are the Engine Properties)
TypeIIA
[EngineProperties] (CHANGES MADE)
AllStop=0.16 -----------------This line is now Silent Speed, When you want to edit Silent Speed just adjust this line based
AheadSlow=0.40 on 100% of engine output, in that u-boats CFG file.
AheadOneThird=0.57
AheadStandard=0.80
AheadFull=0.94
AheadFlank=1.00
BackSlow=0.00 -----------------This line is now All Stop. Note the zeros.
BackStandard=-0.26 -----------------This line is now Back Slow.
BackFull=-0.40 -----------------This line is now Back Standard.
BackEmergency=-0.66

Thats all of the files modified.
Notes:
* I found in my testing that 50 rpms is actually too slow to maintain depth when running deep to avoid DC's. The actual settings I use are between 60 & 70 rpms for a solid 1.5 to 1.75 knot speed. Each class of boat is different in this regard. One silent speed setting wont work for all U-boats.
* All my silent speed settings were tested for depthkeeping @ 200m, of course you can go deeper.
* I noticed while testing, (an SHIII oddity) that if you select your depth with the mouse on the depth gauge while silent running your boat will descend hold depth nicely and ascend if ordered, but if you use the "A" key (or "hold this depth" command), the boat wont fully trim and you will slowly lose your depth over time in one meter increments. I suppose one could use this tacticly to slowly descend, then go Ahead Slow to trim.
* I did not change the engine telegraph on the bridge because this is part of the boats texture file & there are so many custom skins out that
it seemed pointless. The commands will still work, but the gauge wont read properly. I just copy/paste this telegraph onto my favorite skins.

* Thanks to Oak Groove " Bordinstrumente 1.0 " & Captain America "CA's UBoat Instrument Patch V1.0" for thier great work.
* Feel free to modify these files in any way if you can improve upon this mod. If this mod is included in future mods, please provide credit to the author.
*NOTE: This mod is freeware and may not be used in any commercial endeavor.
