Edit: 2/13/2017. Welcome to SH4CMS v1.5. I've added some meaningful features. First, I've upgraded to MultiSH4 v1.5 just in case some of you received error messages from the previous version. Then I added the ability to make or fix game directories for OpMonsun, We Dive at Dawn and a custom directory called ModTest. Finally I added the option to fix your original Wolves of the Pacific directory, since many people play just the game there. Thanks for all the suggestions! Enjoy. Original copy: Everybody knows I've been spouting off my theories about how to prevent mod soup. Some have called my attention to the fact that I've been so mired in the details that I haven't done many people any good at all. That stops now.
Introducing the Silent Hunter 4 Corruption Management System, SH4CMS from now on. This collection of scripts begins with a brand new game installation, never played, in a directory called \Wolves of the Pacific. That is the default directory name of the SH4 installation program. I recommend that you do not put SH4 in one of your protected system directories, \program files or \program files (x86). Stick your files in a root subdirectory. Some use c:\ubisoft. Some use c:\games. My favorite from someone who posted today is c:\games\ubisoft.
Download SH4CMS and uncompress it into the root directory of your game install so it sits beside \Wolves of the Pacific. If you used \games you would have c:\games\Wolves of the Pacific and c:\games\SH4CMS. Complete instructions are in the SH4CMS directory. You'll end up with a shortcut to run the toolkit on your desktop.
SH4CMS creates a protected read only game file repository from your pristine \Wolves of the Pacific directory. SH4CMS can create new directories for supermods GFO, RFB, TMO, FOTRS and FOTRSU. It installs MultiSH4, Large Address Aware and JSGME into \Wolves of the Pacific and any independent game installations you create with SH4CMS. Finally, SH4CMS can fix ANY game corruption, not just mod soup, no matter what the nature, no matter what the cause.
The procedure is for you to use JSGME to uninstall all your mods. Then use JSGME's compare snapshot to game files to see if you do have game corruption. If you do, run SH4CMS. Select "make or fix" your game installation and in about 10 minutes, you can load up your mods, start the game, load your last save and play as if NOTHING had ever happened.
As mods get larger and more complicated you cannot avoid game corruption. But with SH4CMS, you don't have to worry about that. Read complete instructions inside the SH4CMS directory.
This toolkit incorporates Webster's Mod Soup Fix, JScones' JSGME, potoroo's Multi-SH4 and Large Address Aware.exe. Note that because this toolkit copies thousands of files in its operation, functions can be time consuming. But I promise it is worth the wait!

This is an excellent tool for managing the game. I had been going through the tedious re-installing from my DVD. Now I can mess around and not spend the time for a new clean install.
Update... I downloaded the above utility package with 7zip and all is well! Great instructions document, I've got a brain that's denser than sea water (some days) and this will be a huge help.
I do like this mod. Even though I follwed the instructions and insured my directory structure was like what is in the pdf, I had to change the path references in menu.bat & makesh4pristine.bat to 'Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific'.
