The Assisted Plotting Mod makes close-up contacts as realistic as they can get with SH3. All contacts are removed from the maps and replaced by dashed circles, which are invisible on the Attack Map and on the Navigation Map unless you pass the cursor over them. Then they show up as "Unknown". If you lock onto a target and ID it (or have your Weapons Officer do so) then it will show up on the Attack Map and will also be on the Nav Map if you click the cursor on it.
This means that only ships you have IDed will show up, which is all that the sailor drawing on the map could know in real life. It also cancels the Renown loss for having Map Contact Updates turned on.
Sonar lines will also be changed so you can't use them to get an exact range to a target by hydrophone - only the direction.
A great realism mod.
