Hi,

I've just finished a patrol and the u-boat had sustained heavy damage - radio room destoryed, front batteries destoryed, AA gun destoryed, severe damage on the throughout the other compartments. When I straggled into port all I could notice was that my AA gun was bent.

Now when my crew and I are in the clubs telling the girls just how bad that patrol was ...having 4 destoyers and 3 armoured trawlers and 1 covertte on my ass and how I was the captain that evaded and got my boys home safety... well the other crew just look at me and say ....bull****e !:nope: that didnt happen he had no noticable damge and the bent AA gun was caused by that Bernard member:yep:

I know as a u-boat captain you should avoid damage at all cost but when you've tangled with the Brits for 2 days solid you want the nurses to see just how bad you need some lovin after a near death experince:dead: this lack of damge/scaring etc is this a known problem? if I hit a ship with my deck gun I see black shell marks etc but my u-boat only has the bent AA:hmm:

are you running stock?....i use anzackmicks?..real damage mod...holes look like holes and damage looks alot better ...:|\\

Are the damage effects modelled in GW1.1a? So far my only career has been in the Type IIa so I haven't really incurred major damage yet.

I use Fubar's exellent skin on my type VIIb, and from 5 out of 6 patrols so far in my latest career, my boat got some damage from air attacks, DD-fire, depth charges, torpedo net, mine (and survived?, talking about odd DM?). Only external damage I have seen so far (might be wrong tho, because I don't use outside view during battle) came from DD's guns. There was perhaps a dozen or so hit marks around the hull. A big one on the port side saddle tank, which should have ruptured the ballast tank and made all other tanks leak from those smaller hits. But nooo.:down:. They are made from the same secret delta wood that russian planes in Il-2. And those hit marks were gone after I loaded the game next time.

It is a big flaw, that we don't have a decent damage modelling (originally). Best moments in this game are, when you are trying to survive from some $hitty situations (DiD-style). And from what I have read, there was plenty of those during the war. And if there would be visual damage for interiors (other than leaking pipe, or broken gauge glasses), I mean really busted interiors, that would be just normal. Not a weak show it currently is. Plus bent and battered railings, outer hull, tower scope, chlorine gas etc... heh, dream on... But vanilla repair times and DM is a heck of a lot better thanks to NYGM.

But, SHIV hopefully fixes this. And after all SHIII is a great game with some modding.

GW has damage detail. Lot's of it. Pick up a type XXI boat, get yourself depthcharged and then go very close to the tower! It has dents and shorches and everything you'd like!

I use GW 1.1a BTW!
