Help please....... U-Bones or anyone..Torps sit in loading Que and will not load. I posted in the SH3 forums and did everything suggested there. Now I need some education. Can ya'll help?
I am running SH3 with all rev's. GW mod and Commander1.1

I am trying to change the cfg/basic.cfg setting in SH3/GW mod. U-Bones suggested the change to correct a torp loading problem.
It is in the Number of Crew 5=10 section.
Interval1_5=30
Interval2_5=30
Interval3_5=30
U-Bones said to change the 5=30 to 5=3.0

I hope I can make this clear.
I make the change, save, exit, start the game and once again the crew refuses to load torps. The torps sit in the loading Que. I have 1 Torp qualified officer, 4 Torp qualified warrant officers, five seamen. This makes the green bar over 75 percent.

I quit game, return to the cfg file and low and behold :damn: it has reverted back to 5=30. The 5=3.0 WILL NOT SAVE.

I know every little about computers and probably shouldn't even be trying to make changes. However if this is the fix to make the crew load torps, it needs to be done.

What do I need to do to make the change save.

Are you using SH3 commander? If so, exit game do a rollback. Make your changes and try it again.

What sub are you in?

Sub=IIa Year 1939. Using Commander v2.6.0.120. Ill try your suggestion. However, no matter what I've tried so far, the 5=30 always returns back to 5=30 after I've changed it to 5=3.0 per UBones. It change always returns after I start the game.

The changes you are making are part of the fatigue settings. If you have a selecion in SH3 commander for a particular fatigue model, it is making the changes. It will make the changes right when you launch, so your edits are being overwritten.

You might try the no fatigue setting and see if that helps.

I've seen this issue come up a few times before. You might want to search on it and find a better answer, or check the SH3 Commander sticky thread. Commander is a great tool, it may even be the solution to the problem.

Follow this sequence:
- Open SH3Cmdr
- Press the "Rollback SH3!" button
- Exit SH3Cmdr
- Edit \SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg\Basic.cfg, saving your changes
- Try the game again

At some point, add in "- Read the SH3Cmdr readme"...

Even if he does that, the changes are in the fat model, and if he has a different model selected in SH3 Commander, won't it overwrite his edit?

Or were you telling him to roll back and launch without using Commander? Because you basically told him to do the same thing I said in the second post. just trying to help.

No they're not. These settings are not changed by any SH3Cmdr fatigue selection.

In fact, they're not *meant* to be changed by GW's 24 hour fatigue model either - the typo was simply an oversight.

The correct settings should be the same as the ones commented out, that is from:

;NumberOfCrew5=10
;Interval1_5=5.1
;Interval2_5=6.5
;Interval3_5=13.7
NumberOfCrew5=10
Interval1_5=30
Interval2_5=30
Interval3_5=30

delete the last four lines and remove the semicolon from the first four.

Problem fixed.

EDIT: Yes, Coda, I know you told him to do the same thing, but his "I know every little about computers and probably shouldn't even be trying to make changes" suggests that he prolly doesn't understand you/isn't familiar with the term "rollback", or doesn't know what to do. I simply outlined it in simple steps.

First, let me say thanks for the suggestions. I'm such a bone head.:damn: I remembered I had read somewhere that there was an update for the GW24 hour fatigue setting. I had downloaded the fix and had never made the change. :doh:
I rolled back with Commander, installed the fix and now all is well.
Thanks again guys, great to have a community to draw help from.
