Has there been any mod to make it possible to temporarily remove or hide the bottom tool bar ----Im thinking of the sitn on the bridge on dark nights when the bright instruments make seeing everything else very difficult ---or alternatively any way to dim the light on the instruments .

there are two options: a switchable [which I recommend for your purpose] and a permanent slide bar.
