Yes she is. The Kilo is the only sub i played when playing DW. I dont play this game anymore... Yet im tempted to reinstall after seeing the pics:arrgh!:

nonsence! ive killed many a akula with a kilo before! (besides, its best as a ASuW boat, as it has no good ASW torpedoes)

Kilo is nice. It is quiet if it stands still. Over 5kts it is noisy. The biggest disadvantage in DW is absence of TA. Akula will get fix at double range then Kilo. Rocket torpedoes will end it. Only chance for kilo is not to move at all. And hope nobody will use active sonar.

I like it anyway. It's simple, turns well, has just enough weapons (russian version and especially chinese Klub capable hull). But when I start mission against and I don't see it on the sonar right from the begining, I know I'm dead, unless enemy makes BIG mistake.

ASWNUT101 theres a world of diffrence between the AI and human, i can have a fix and send torpedos to kill kilos within 4 minuets, ive sunk many human controlled kilo's before they even realised whats happend and all they hear is "torpedo in the water"

Again only real advantage is if it doesnt move at all but then again it makes the same amount of noise moving at 3 knots as it does dead still, but i can still find it.

anyone can find one, but how quickly you kill one makes all the difference....anyway, theres a whole lot of difference from your average joe kilo captain than a REAL one.:know:

Yup there is, for a starters they would have been on submarines for about 10 to 15 years and know every inch of the submarine, secondly they would be of captain 2nd rank and will have x amount of supervised patrols under thier belt thirdly alot of russians now attend the perisher course.

So thier experiance is alot more then any of us.

The Kilo isn't any good at hunting the Nucs but its good at traping them. Just make like a hole in the water untill the nuc goes away or wanders around 4nm away from you.

Only one Kilo needs to get lucky, the Kilo costs pocket change compaired to a nuc boat.

And still people say they are totaly crap, the kilo is a good ASuW vessel with limited ASW capibilitys good only mainly in terratorial and littoral waters not good for open ocean and distant deployments.

A good platform just now a bit old.
