I think the new version of sh3 commander will let you randomize the loading screens. I'm not sure though. I remember reading a post somewhere that someone made them radomize during load in. I just cant remember where. I use jsgme to swap them from time to time.

I relaly liked this one, cause while we know who it is, if we didnt, it could be any uboat, in an "oh schitt!" moment on the bridge.

Here is instructions by Hemisent on how to randomize loading screens using SH3 Commander:
To randomize intro folders
Open SH3 Commander
Go to Random-see 6 Random folders included(you can add more if you want.)
Open the 0 folder
Open Date folder
Create a new folder and name it 19390901(or whatever date you want to start at)
Build a folder structure; data\Menu\loading (similiar to JSGME)
Insert an intro file in the loading folder
Repeat this with as many Random folders as you want.
*note* if you have 6 random folders with each one containing a different intro screen youll get a 100% chance of Commander issuing a "loaded" file
but if you only have 3 Random intro folders installed and the other 3 are empty Commander uses the empty folders to control the percentages-you will have a 50-50 chance of getting a "loaded" file.
the post was found here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=96120&highlight=randomize+loading
enjoy!

Instead of using the Random folder in Cmdr, I used the date folder that Cmdr uses for randomising the Gramophone. Works for me. for some reasone, I couldn't get the Random folder to work.
BTW, I haven't been able to figure out how to incorporate the loading bar, All Rights Reserved, and Ubisoft logo in my intro screens. How do you do that ?

The above method of randomization works...I just set it up....I'll post a sh3 commander collection of these preloaders so people can just drag and drop to their sh3 directories.....
I made a preloader template with ubisoft and trademark logo and posted it here:
http://files.filefront.com/SH3PreloaderTemplate/;5998777;;/fileinfo.html
Download the template and you can use it to make your own logo style sh3 preloaders....
The template is a .psd file so you will need photoshop edit it. Then just drag and drop you image you have to the labeled layer that says "drop pic above here" and then activate the layers you want to use. I made several of them for the "silent hunter III" trademark title orientation: top left, top right, center. Once you have the layout the way you want....save it as targa format (.tga) and name it Intro.tga and you are good to go.
Here is example of quick one I just did....
Where to drag the image and activate layers....

What it looks like afterwards...

Thanks Tiki, I didn't think you would give away you're secret. You may have competition now, "He He He". I use GIMP, can't afford Photoshop.

Would it be possible to make das boot loadingscreens for the other ones as well? For Example a Das Boot Loadingscreen for Single missions or as Replacement for the Campaign Loading screen?
Would be cool! :yep:

This template is just for Intro.tga file which is the file that loads when you first enter game.
There are 4 loading screens located in your "Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Menu\Loading" directory: museum.tga, SingleMissions.tga, Map.tga, and Intro.tga
If you want to edit the other load screens you will need to create a new template
with the background load bar in its proper place....The load bar is shifted slightly in each of the above tga's and is the reason you can't use the same template for each.
As for making more das boot loading screens...I deleted all of the original screen captures I took from the movie. :damn: and I would need those to import into the new templates with the adjusted load bars....So, in order to do the other screens you will need to take new screenshots of the movie. I used fraps for mine.

I was just going to ask a similar question, is it possible to remove the Silent Hunter III logo ? This way, I could replace it with War Ace Campaign, GW's, NYGM, or personalize it for someone.
Such as one of my first ones, I'm still learning . I'de like to have a screen like this, but with just the Ubisoft logo and Copy Right stuff.

yes, with the template above you just disable the "sh3 logo layer" and you will just have the copyright information below.....like I said I cut it all up and made it so all you need to do is turn on and off layers of each item you want. All that is required is you importing the photo. If you want to add a new mod logo. Just add a new layer and import or design the new logo on that layer.

Thanks again Tiki, you have been very helpful.:DI found that out, just remove Silent Hunter III layer, then Save As like SH3 Template Blank.:know:
Are you going to be able to fix the Widgets ? I don't mean to bug you, but it's a cool creation of yours that shouldn't go to waste.

Oh, yeah. I forgot to update them to the new forums. I sent message to my friend. He is the one that did the coding for the RSS feed. I just made the images for it.
But, we will get them updated and repost them as v.2.0 if the forum still supports rss feeds. I guess NEAL keeps making changes to the forum. He sure is fussy. We all mod the game while he keeps modding the forum. I don't get it...but, to each his own....:rotfl:

Well Tiki, that was before I ran it to test it out. I seem to be having SIZE problems. First test, too short, second to big, third loading bar aligned but top squished down, forth test I thought I had it made until I noticed my screenie was stretched to fit template. Remember, I have GIMP, not Photoshop. Gimp recognises your layers, but I can't get the sizes right.
I hope I'm not being a headache Tiki ?

not sure, I never used GIMP....I'm not sure it even recognizes the photoshop format. Make sure your image size is 1024 x 1024 and set it to 72dpi when you save it. The height it displays in game that you actually see is about 780 or so....but, it uses the extra bottom blank space for whatever reason.....so it should just be black on the bottom....if you try to make the image 1024 by 768 and save it as that it will distort your image when it loads in game....so make sure you keep it at 1024 by 1024 and keep all the graphics anchored from the top down....
when you drop images into gimp are you importing them at 72 dpi as well? check their resolution and image size and make sure they match the document you are working with.....
if the layers are not working...try making a new layer for the image within gimp.
it looks to me somehow the images are being stretched to the entire height or width depending on the image....so the size of the image is getting distorted.....for now....just double check the dimensions and we will go from there....

Thanks for your help and your patience with me, I will keep you posted. I don't see a way to drop into GIMP, but I just make new layer within GIMP.

OK, I used your advise about Anchoring From top down. When first placing new layer on top of template, it was centered with template, but the Logo layer was up about 1/5th from bottom of pic. So what I did was before anchoring this Silly Pic below(Titled "Your WO On Drugs"), I slid it up to top of frame. Then Anchored layer, raise Logo layer, and was at bottom.
This here is actual FRAPS shot of it loading game. I got it, I LOVE YOU MAN  And here is a graduation cap smiley ( :know: ) for myself.

cool....only thing I noticed is the "o" in ubisoft is filled in black...in the bottom right.....I didn't erase that....I guess I should have refined it more when editing the cuts....most of the screens I always used were dark in the movie so it never shows up....but, like the screen you have with a light background you can see the black spots....I guess I should fix the template and repost it...

I've never noticed the "o", or the jagged look around Logo until you mentioned it, but atleast the Intros are somewhat Official with Copywrite & Ubisoft Logo. Also, when game is loading, The jaggedness smooths out a little.
I soooo much thank you for puting up with all my questions, "Mission Completed Sir".http://foolstown.com/sm/shv.gif
