Owned the game since it came out but just started playing. Running GW with 1.4b patch. Practicing with canned convoy mission. Game slows as to be almost unplayable when event cam shows a few burning merchant men. Is this GW, or the event cam in general. I have 1Gig Ram. If I shut the event cam game speeds back up.

Thanks.

I quit using event cam, due to the same reason. i have 1,5 gb ram, and its hardly enough now... Ram is the juice this excellent game runs on....

Welcome, btw!

I only have a gig of ram and my fps stays in the 20's for explosions, only drops when I'm in a busy port like where you start each mission. Ram is a major factor, but so is your video card and cpu. I have a Athlon 64 3000+ and a 6600GT. What do you guys have?

I do not use event cam even though it is cool it does slow the game some but I like the realism without it. Anyway, I run a AMD 3200+, 1024 RAM and NVida 6200 OC 256MB card. Only the ports with alot of traffic give me choppy play. The game is a RAM hog so the more you have the more the merry is the play:yep:

I have an Anthlon 64, 3400, Nvidia GeF 6100. How do you check the Frame Rate??

Download fraps.

I have an Athlon 64 3800+, 1,5 giga RAM and a XFX 7600 GS. The game runs smooth with this setup. 100-130 fps in open sea, and no major slowdowns in ports.

This is with GW, by the way.

When you installed GW did you enable enhanced sea floor textures (or similar name)? I've read that can really slow things down. Just reinstall GW and make sure in the options screen during install that it's not enabled.
