I'm stumped. I've tried installing SH3 Commander three times, but the end result is the same: The game locks up half way into loading the patrol.

I took the following steps:

1. Installed JSGME (a fantastic program, by the way) with the following mods:
NYGM 2.2 stand alone
SH3 Commander Optional Updates
Minefield JPGs
Fubar's VIIB Camo (beautiful)
Alternate Dial Faces

2. I deleted all of the numbered random event files in the SH3 Commander file ('39 to '45).

3. I didn't attempt to use any existing careers (i.e., I created new ones with SH3 Commander).

4. I disabled my Norton Antivirus and Spybot Search & Destroy. I disabled my modem to prohibit any interference with my Home Portal.

When this failed, I uninstalled SH3 Commander and using REGEDIT, deleted all instances of the program in the registry, and tried again. Upon re-installation, the problem persisted. The game runs fine as long as I don't use SH3 Commander.

I'd appreciate any advice or guidance offered.

Thanks!

I installed the "optional updates" before SH3 Commander. I obtained it from the NYGM 2.2 Stand Alone download.

kylania's instructions for Installing NYGM 2.2 via JSGME

1. SH3
2. SH3 Patch 1.4
3. JSGME 1.4.1 (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products/jsgme.zip)
4. NYGM 2.2 - Stand Alone (http://hosted.filefront.com/TeddyBar/)
5. SH3 Commander 2.6.1 (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products/SH3Cmdr261.exe)
6. Ensure you apply the SH3 Commander files from the documentation folder in NYGM 2.2.

Step by Step:

1. Install SH3 from DVD.
2. Install the SH3 1.4b patch.
3. Install JSGME by moving the files into your main SH3 install directory (usually c:\program files\ubisoft\silenthunterIII)

4. Run JSGME once. This will create a MODS folder under the ...\silenthunterIII folder.
Close and run JSGME again, this time choose Tasks... option from the middle and create a snapshot of your files. This will ensure JSGME knows what your basic SH3 install should look like. Close JSGME.

5. Unpack NYGM 2.2 Stand Alone and move the entire folder into the ...\silenthunterIII\MODS folder. At this point you should have files structure like this: C:\program files\ubisoft\silenthunterIII\MODS\NYGM Tonnage War V2.2 – Stand Alone Version\data\...

6. Run JSGME and you should see "NYGM 2.2 Stand Alone" on the left side of the screen now. Click the > button to move it to the right, installing your mod. This will take quite some time! Once it's moved to the right close JSGME.

7. Install SH3 Commander 2.6.1

8. From c:\program files\ubisoft\silenthunterIII\MODS\NYGM Tonnage War V2.2 – Stand Alone Version\documentation\SH3 Commander Optional Updates copy all files into C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander\Cfg.

9. Delete from that same SH3 Commander\Cfg folder all the specifc date files ie, Randomised events_19*.cfg leaving only the one Randomized file you just copied.

I installed the "optional updates" before SH3 Commander. I obtained it from the NYGM 2.2 Stand Alone download.

Arent you suppost to install the updates inside SH3 Commander folder, in the Cfg folder ? Same place as to where the Ship Names file goes, and the Randomized Events.

I mad eth exact same error and it leads me to believe that the installation instructions in the NYGM pdf are somewhat muddled. Or I am a really poor reader :rotfl:

To cut it out much clearer for you:

Make sure all SH3 commander files are rolled back

Install NYGM 2.2 with JGSME.

Install SH3C
Then delete files randomize1939-1945.cfg from SH3C\cfg folder.

Copy the content of the NYGM 2.2 folder SH3 Commander Optional Files into

SH3C\cfg folder. Say yes to overwrite if it prompts you.

This is not a stock SH3 mod, but changes to SH3C that you need to do. So ignore JGSME for this part.

Now your game should no longer lock up during launching of the 3d-world.

I thought the SH3C Optional Files was an additional mod, but it isn't. The readme doesn't put this clearly. But now it is :)

Yup - I put the SH3 Commander "Optional Updates" right into JSGME. The funny part about this is when lurker_hlb3 asked me when and where I installed the updates, I made my response then went to bed. Lying there, I started wondering why I'd use JSGME to update a program that isn't located in the SH3 folder... :88)

Thank you all for your responses. I'll have to try this out ASAP.
