If you have the GW mod, in the map screen, upper left hand corner is a pull down that shows milch cow locations and what year. Find one nearest you and navigate to that spot, hit escape and it will ask to dock at (which one you went too) and that is it. The screen will look like it does when you have dock at your home port. When you start again, you will be in the port harbor of the milch cow you picked floating next to you....milch cow (usually a tramp steamer). There will be no quadrant for you to go too. It will say NULL, therefore you can go where you want. You do loose about 4 months of patrol time as a result. I guess the capitan has a hard time rounding up the crew from the local police/bars/brothels!

And if you can't find the pull down and have GW, just press F1 and then pick "Resupply info"!

You can use SH3 Commander to fix both of those problems. It can assign you a new patrol grid of your choosing and you can set Days In Port to 1, so you don't lose any time.
Resupplying mid patrol is always annoying because the game and SH3 Cmdr count before and after resulpplying as two SEPERATE patrols.

That's the primary reason why i dont resupply. On top of that you get FULL fuel and torpedo's when the reality was they'd give you *JUST* enough oil to get to where your going, and a couple torpedo's.
To compensate, i just give my Uboats a tinsy bit more fuel. Say the historical stat is like 13,450 KM at 10 kts. Ill edit my sub's sim files to be 13,450 KM at 10.75 kts to 11 to 12 kts. Personnlay i think 10.75 to 11 isnt going too overboard, where as 12, i think gives me a tinsy bit too much more fuel, not overkill, but a tiny bit too much.

If you feel guilty about the torpedoes, can't you just fire them when undocking from the supply boat? Same with the fuel, just run at flank speed for a while.
Clumsy and unrealistic way to do it, and I bet it's going to hurt the feelings of the people you just got the supplies from, but you get the idea.

Thanks for these! ;)

By the way, Ducimus, exacltly what file is it that lets one edit fuel consumption?

Thank you I really appreciate it.

thanks

NYGM 2.2 includes historical u-tankers (http://www.kylania.com/sh3/wolves/utankers.html). I'm sure other mods do as well, and I believe they are all based upon some stand alone milk cow mod of yore. :)

Yes, there is. The file is named 'milk_en1.1(1.4ready).rar', maybe you can find it at UBRS. There's a little fault in it --> you have to rename the included 'LNB_MilkBase.tga'
to 'LNB_MilkBase_shp.tga', otherwise you'll have no shapes of resupply vessels in the nav map but the text 'shape not found'.

Im not sure if you can edit consumption rates at a given speed per say, but the surface endurance stats are located in a sub's .SIM file. say /data/submarine/NSS_UBOAT9/whateverthefilenameis.sim
As a rule, zon files tend to hold hard "shell" statistics like min max damage, hitpoints, crush depths, etc.
Sim files tend to have "inner" statistics like range, engine horse power, top speeds, flood rates, etc. It flesh's out the "shell" as defined in the zon file. This is where you edit the surface endurance to get more fuel.

thanks very much  Have you used this mod before? Is it worth it? Thanks again bro.
Meh, a tad too complicated for me, mate. But thanks anyway!

Oh, its not that hard!
Easy way, instead of using TT's tweaker is to use "SH3 inspector" (also made by time traveller). It has an easy and simple to use and understand UI.

thanks very much  Have you used this mod before? Is it worth it? Thanks again bro. It's worth to use. I only resupplied one time yet [in Vigo] and it worked.
But attention: if you use a multi texture mod for the NAMC - don't be shocked: the resupply vessels appear barely naked [pure white, without texture]http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/happy/046.gif
