i had a idea for a mod, that would add cities all over south amercia, central america, more in north america (canada and USA) more in africa, india, australia, new zealand, japan, china, russian pacific coast, pacific ocean, and the traffic and warship patrols to go with. I have a general idea how to get started but i have a couple things to ask

1. what file do you edit to put a base somewhere, and do you just enter the corridinates and dates its allied, axis, netural?

2. how do you add the flags for a new country, because I know how to add the country itself

3. how to do you add ships to a country

4.how do you add ships to a base

If i can manage to make this mod, I would love to share it with the community
(yes i do understand it will be hard work)

thanks in advance, Grrbob25

I understand. But the point is if you load up your new harbours a lot, you won´t be able to play your own mod. Anyway, if you find a version of the Harbour Traffic Mod (it is now obsolete, since it is incorporated in GW), and study the scipted, random and land layers versus the stock game, you might get an idea how you built up harbor traffic and new cities.

The above is a link to download bbw's tutorial on placing ports, bases, and lighthouses.

The following link is his tutorial far adding ships to harbors and generaly scripting them into the campaign SCR file.

Both have helped me greatly:up: in adding cities, ports and bases, lighthouses, ships, genaral scripts, etc. It's a combination of using the mission editor and the locations CFG files among others.

You can add any ship out there for download by putting the sea data files in your sh3 sea data folder then placing it's coresponding CFG file in any country's roster folder and adding it to the english names file. the read-me that comes with most ship downloads can walk you through it.

But it takes some time investment--it's better to start with a base campaign file (SCR,LND,RND,CFG locations) from one of the mods out there. My base file was a GW/Uwac combo. Just scripting the North Carolina coast with new cities, harbors , lighthouses, and ports, adding ships to to those harbors then scripting Ship and aircraft waypoionts was enough for me for now(also testing to see if there are no issues with the changes). It's made me appreciate more the effort by the supermods. Also thers a member here (carotio-I think) that has done a new map with a lot of cities added in the areas your talking about-you can possibly download his file and tweak it to your taste.http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=96859
