I installed GW last week and now I can't fire torpedoes by pressing enter. I have to hit the fire button on the periscope screen. :-?

Can this be fixed?

I think it is now "Control + Enter" to prevent accidental firings.

i didnt realise that as I always press the on screen fire button anyway but that is a fantastic idea because I was always pressing Enter, perhaps thinking I was playing something else.

I once fired accidentally one while leaving port, fortunately it didnt hit anything. I got a pretty weird looks from the band... when I got back and headed to the Kommandants office to give full report of the accidental firing, I gave him a piece of paper with only one word in it; Bernard.

I once sunk a merchant with an accidental fire. It was in the middle of a convoy, though. First Bernard got blamed, then I took the praise.

Yea, I got away with that. I was transferred to another boat. Bernards birthday is 25th of September, I´m planning on something for the big day. ;)

Good lord guys... I'm sure that Bernard is a well-meaning guy... Just because he's dumb doesn't mean that he has no value as a human being! :p

(Bernaaaaard.... put that down... Yes I know it is pretty.)

Maybe he just needs a little extra time to develop his U-boating skills... and just a little patience and care from his fellow crewmen... IE YOU!!!

Come to think of it... YOU GUYS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES... PICKING ON POOR BERNARD!!!

I MEAN REALLY!!! WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO BE SO JUDGMENTAL!!!

DO YOU THINK THAT I DIDN'T HEAR ABOUT THE TIME YOU WENT TO PERISCOPE DEPTH AND LEFT HIM ON WATCH???

THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT!!!

LOOK AT BERNARD!!!! JUST SITTING THERE TAKING ALL OF YOUR ABUSE AS IF HE IS USED TO IT!!!

FOR HIM IT IS JUST ANOTHER DAY OF CRAP ON THE BOAT!!!

STOP PICKING ON POOR BERNARD!!!

Ya filthy, rotten scoundrels! :arrgh!:

(Bernaaaaard.... stop that!!! No Bernard... It is the OTHER valve... that one will flood the boat... which would be very unpleasant because it is quite difficult for all of us to breathe underwater.)

(I tell you what Bernard... go to your bunk and read this book... You'd love it... it even has some pictures... see? No Bernard, you've got it upside down.)

:damn: :damn: :damn:

Lehmann, you tree-hugger!

This is easy for you to say, sitting in your warm bdu-office scheming up new ways to give us free fun, but try dealing with this clown in the atlantic!

Half a dozen is half a dozen too many!

Is Windows a virus?

No, Windows is not a virus. Here's what viruses do:

They replicate quickly. (Okay, Windows does that)

Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so. (Okay, Windows does that)

Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk. (Okay, Windows does that, too)

Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. (Sigh... Windows does that, too)

Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow and the user will buy new hardware. (Yup, that's with Windows, too)

Until now it seems, Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.

So, Windows is not a virus!

And a little song:

PROGRAMMER'S DRINKING SONG
100 little bugs in the code,
100 bugs in the code,

fix one bug, compile it again,
101 little bugs in the code.

101 little bugs in the code.....

Repeat until BUGS = 0

Using F12 view, want to go faster; right hand on mouse, left index finger on numpad-8 (moving forward), want to go faster, twist hand to place thumb on Shift key, hit Enter key by accident. "Fire one, aye sir!" "One away!":damn:

What just happened? Try again. "Two away, sir!":damn: :damn:

And this was in a Type II! Five torpedoes total! :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn:

We didn't have Bernard to blame back in those days. I changed it to Control+Enter as soon as I was told about it.
