Hey guys I just read the manual on using these weapons but i dont get it. i understood the Land Attack ones with the waypoints and stuff, but I'am clue less when it comes to the anti ship missiles aboard the Los Angeles. can you guys explain more how they work?

Long time since I've played DW, but if I remember rightly you assign a surface contact to the weapon at the weapons station set the seeker pattern to wide or narrow, I prefer narrow as it has less chance of picking up another contact by mistake, set the maximun destruct range i.e. the distance the missile travels before self-destructing which I think is 250nm or less. You also need to set the range that the missile becomes active and searches for a target which I think the minimum is 7nm (it could be 5nm can't quite remember). You must be at a depth of 150 feet or less and travelling at no more than 5 knots otherwise the launch will fail. I find TASMs are pretty ineffective against warships as they shoot them down before they reach their target but sometimes they make it.

Captain Nemo is correct 5 knots, for TSAM or Harpoon, I seldom use TSAMS, as they are no longer carried on Ships and Subs, they were converted to TLAMs. With Harpoons I try to be a Little over 10k yards to make sure.

what's this stuff about TMA? i dont get. I read it about 4 times and when i try what i think i read it wont fire.

TMA is the process through which you can estimate a contact's position, speed, and course. This information is used by the fire control computer to determine the proper intercept course for the missile. The information should also be used by the user (you) to determine the proper presets for the weapon to ensure maximim effectiveness and to minimize the possibility of hitting another contact.
