Greetings !

I'm playing GW 1.1. It's almost January 1943 and I have been attacked by aircraft a total of 5 times since the beginning of the war. I get the impression that there is not enough going on in the air in GW. SO I awnated to suggest to the developers of this awesome mod: perhaps it's a good idea to increase air activity in GW 1.2. By increase I'd suggest more aircraft attacking each other's ports/cities etc, so you may see them fly overhead. Interceptors attacking bombers, dogfights, and naturally increased maritime patrols.

Salute !

Hi!

Folks have noticed that aircraft aren't seen very often if you run at time compression speeds greater than 256x (IIRC). If you run at high time compression you might want to ensure you are at 256x or less and then you may see more aircraft.

Hi !

Well even so the aircraft shold see you and attack you :rock:

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep it in mind and I'll try it when I get back to my current patrol (am near Malta which should have decent air cover.)

Anything over 256T\C and you will miss 90% of air atacks because of the way the units are being moved
I know in mid atlantic its always nice to blat along at 1024 and miss not only aircraft but shipping too on the way to somewhere but if you keep it around 126tc you will meet everything thats there

Wow, it would take forever to do the patrol I'm doing now, Brest - Alexandria and back on 126. Is there any go between here ? Maybe if you reduce TC around land ? Also, do yuo know what the reasonis for missing stuff ? The gmae is supposed to run as normal just faster at higher TC, least that's what I thought.

Lol thats a long run at 126 i agree
Early war your safe away from land at high tc as not a lot of aircraft out to sea
Later you have escort carriers etc
Depends on whether you want more air attacks or to get there quicker
It was explained in a post a while ago that at high T\C the game skips waypoints so if you would have say run into aircraft at their waypoint5 but you going at high T\C them game might "jump" waypoint 5 on the way to 6
Thats also why at high T\C you sometimes come face to face with a ship real close as it gets to its waypoint the same time as you so your T\C drops

Something along those lines anyway
Yes it would be nice if it all ran seamlessly behind the scenes at high Y\C but it doesnt

Can you give us a bit more depth into how GW handles air power ?
Also is the air power mod compatible with GW 1.1 ?

Thanks.

Thanks for the tip.

With high TC, your PC cant keep up with the game. When the PC detects an aircraft itīs already too far away for the game to 'see' it and alert you. So, the game just keeps on going. Not sure if this is correct, but thatīs the way I see it.

Yes, you can use the old Airpower mod with GW1.1a or even better the Airpower that comes with HT mod.
For GWX we redone all the aircoverage and airplanes settings from scratch, including new air coverage for all the new Eastern areas (Monsun Ops) and Black Sea.:up:

You can go a bit faster and still meet aircarft by trying one of these:
-go high TC at night,you don't find much aircarft at night,and it's hard to spot them /be spotted;
-use the air-cover chart in the upper-left part of the nav-map and estimate when you enter air-cover zones.Early war,they are usually close to land ,so you don't have to use low TC all the way;
-you can also use air-base position info ,and slow donw when you are near these "hot-spots" with aircraft;
