Running GW and SH3 Commander. Just had an intersting experience.

Fired all four bow torpedos, sunk two large freighters and was reloading torpedo tubes. 1, 2 & 3 reloaded normaly but 4 got stuck with 1 minute 12 seconds remaining and would not complete loading.

Later, attacked a light cruiser in the middle of a convoy and got three hits. Then all of a sudden I get a message that tube 4 is loaded. I guess it finished loading when I fired at the cruiser. By the way, I got a message a little bit later (cruiser) "she's going down."

Could this torpedo loading as described be a SH3 Commander 2.6 random malfunction?

Diesels or electrics? If this happened on the surface after you had previously stopped your engines, it may just be a stock game bug - every once in a while, if you stop engines while surfaced your boat won't react when you try to ring up ahead full or flank -if it's this stock game bug, it usually goes away if you ring up reverse and then forward again, maybe a couple of times, although I did once have to save and reload to make it work again.

I had a weird one last night running SH3 Commander 2.6 and GW 1.0 - I had gunned down a coastal freighter and set a small tanker afire and listing heavily with my Type IXB's deck gun, but the tanker refused to sink. It was stationary (and had been for the last 15 minutes) and lined up perfectly in my sights as I sat surfaced 700m away, so I fired one torp (manual targeted, 0 degree bearing, 90 degree AOB, 0 speed) straight at the center of the tanker. For some unexplained reason (random malfunction maybe?), the torpedo veered to the right and struck the very tip of the bow of the tanker. I checked the TDC settings, and they were fine, so I fired another torp with the exact same settings and this time it struck dead amidships as it should have. Not sure what caused that to happen, but I thought it was pretty cool that something had gone wrong for no apparent reason.

It took 2 more torps and a few more gun shots (the latter against the other side of the tanker) to finally sink that ship. Must have been carrying some lighter-than-water gasoline or something that burned well but helped keep the tanker afloat. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it when BdU asks me why it took me 4 torps to kill that tanker :)

I wish I could claim credit for it but unfortunately I cannot. There are no torpedo related files in the Sabotage/Malfunctions mod. I just could not find a way to make them randomly screw up-either loading or in their individual targeting.

As for Flank speed doing nothing-all engine commands reduce the performance either to a pre determined speed in knots or by percentage but they don't totally delete performance.
The engines/e motors still perform but at a reduced capacity
