I've been playing SH 3 on and ovv for over a year, and only recently tried some of the new mods.
thing is grey wolves and RUB both make the game crash at the load screen for me. I have used JSGME, as well as a totally fresh installation, and installing both mods ( not at the same time) directly into the game and both make the game unloadable.
when loading these mods vis JSGME, the JSGME app crashes, so i can't even undo the mod install
of the dozen or more mods i have installed/removed via teh jsgme, these two are the only ones that cause me trouble.
anyone else have this difficulty?
You should not combine RuB (or any other mod for that matter) with NYGM or GW.This has a high probability to make the game crash or who knows what.Use only one at a time, but many parts of RuB are already in NYGM and GW.

You must wait to jsgme to finish his job (although it looks unresponsibe it's copying files), it takes several minutes to enable GW, s it's a very big mod.

Enaceo: i was only installing gw OR RUB, i was not combining any mods.
as for the rest, jsGME getting a "not responding" eror is normal then?
still, it does not explain why if i install GW directly overtop a clean install of sh3 it also crashes?
Oh I thought it was about using both mods.
I also get that non-responsive state from the mod enabler when trying to install NYGM,GW or any other major mods .For a few minutes ,it seems like it crasheS.But for me it always works after that.

hi CL, :D I'm going to walk you thru this slowly. To install GW1.1a or other BIG mods the jsgme method , Install SH3, patch, and run game. exit game and install jsgme, and run game again. Now you will have a "MODS" folder in your pathway. Now you you can choose which way you want to install GW1.1a. And you should be able to in stall the other Big Mods the same way with jsgme. Last bit of advice is READ the readme's.and do just what you doing "ask questions" there's alot of talent around here. Or we would be still be playing stock SH3. Good Luck.:)

Very good advice
Though dont forget to delete the SH3 folder in my documents before doing a fresh install
Its one of the biggest reasons for failures when installing again
If you are in port and want to keep your current career - remove it from the SH3 folder in my docs ( cant give you exact path as cant get to my SH3 comp at mo )
before you delete it

Indeed good advice but I do not see why you should enter the game -exit-enter and exit again. The MODS folder is created the first time you run the mod enabler .I re-install SH3 and change mods quite often and never have to enter-exit the game.

I have tried to install the mod enabler a couple of times, can't get it to work. What folder do you install it to. Thanks.

JSGME and the files that came with it should be placed in your root SH3 folder. C:\program files\ubisoft\silenthunterIII or something.
Then you'll run it once, that will create a MODS folder under there, so c:\program files\ubisoft\silenthunterIII\MODS
Then you'll run it again and use the option that creates a list of files. That'll "save" your baseline install list incase you ever need to go back.
After that move JSGME compatible mods into the MODS folder, then run JSGME.exe and you'll see them on the left side. Click on a mod name, click the > button and it will install the mod for you.

Yes, you can ignore the NOT RESPONDING message.
Basically, to speed up the enable/disable process, JSGME goes onto "voicemail" for all but the most serious of Windows messages. It simply doesn't allow itself to get distracted with what are mostly unrelated and irrelevant system messages. The system takes this "ignoring" as an assumption that the programme must have stopped working and reports it as not responding. This is actually 100% true in the literal sense.
But not responding to the system does not mean that JSGME is not doing anything. In fact, it is working mighty hard moving files around.
BTW, it's a common misconception to think that as soon as a programme reports NOT RESPONDING that it has crashed. Programmes that are churning a lot of data or are just very busy doing something will quite often report as NOT RESPONDING (ie like MS Excel loading a large spreadsheet). In such cases you should just wait a bit for the programme to finish what it is doing before ending the task.
