Hello,
I have got SH3 and have installed the wonderful Grey Wolves Supermod, but I would like to know if any of the navigational mods ie map tools etc..... will be compatible with it, forgive me for sounding dumb but I am totally new to it and find all the mods available to be rather too much to handle, in the nicest possible way of course, any guidance help would be appreciated immensly, or is it simply a case of having the Grey Wolves Supermod and that's it?
One other thing about installation incase I have done this incorrectly and some of the mod did'nt install, I downloaded the 5 files and ran the installer from my storage disk D: and then told it to install to the usual C:\Program Files\Ubisoft etc......was this correct? not to clever when it comes to moving files around and understanding things.
Many thanks
BlueGlow ;)

You must use JSGME to install mods. They will all work with GW, but some of them might undo some of the features of GW. The JSGME will tell you this. If you find a mod screws up your install, just uninstall it via JSGME.
In a few weeks you should also get SH3CMDR and SH3GEN. Get them at: Get the latest: SH3 Commander (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products/SH3Cmdr26.exe) | SH3 Commander Combined Skin Pack Add-on (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products/SH3CmdrCSP.7z) | Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME) (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products/jsgme.zip)
Visit: JoneSoft Homepage (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/) | The Grey Wolves Homepage (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/TGW/)
SH3GEN:
http://www.global-explorer.de/Sh3Gen%200.7.1.zip
You also must read SH3 Newbie Guide, Links and other helpful stuff (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=96026)
in the SHIII forum.
(my thread is stuck on bold and I can't get it to stop)
Finally, map tools will work.

Hi Irish1958,
I do have the JSGME but I tried to install mods via this utility and for some reason it would'nt install the mods properly hence I had a terrible time trying to install and found that I had duplicate folders appearing in the SH3 directory and this is the best way for me to attempt to explain it sorry
I have to log off now but will come back later to go into more detail as I really could do with the help big time
Ok to get back to things, yesterday I spent all day and evening trying to install the Tonnage Mod via the JSGME and it would'nt work and the only way in the end that I got it to work was by doing it manually, not the best way I admit but the only way for me as there was something not right with what I was doing, I just can't follow the right way to work with the JSGME, easy for most but I am not most people lol
Today I went and installed the Grey Wolves Mod and no problem as I did'nt have to use the JSGME.
So I am reluctant to use the JSGME as I do not want to spend all my time trying to install mods and find out that the mod does'nt work, I would rather play then mess around as I am sure most people would agree, the fact that there are also so many mods, I find it very overwhelming in a good sense, but also at the same time frustrating as I don't know what is best to have, I have read alot of threads saying what are the best to have and I plumped for The Grey Wolves and a few others that I hope will work with it, as I don't know how to have a duplicate or even triplicate copy of the game modded differently on my HD :(
Thanks

I'm confused. When you ran the JSGME.exe where did you point it to? In C/Program files/Ubisoft/SilentHunterIII you should have a file called JSGME.exe and a folder called MODS. Mod files get copy/pasted into the MODS folder then run JSGME to install.

Sorry my explanations leave alot to be desired I know..........yes I did point it to C/Program files/Ubisoft/SilentHunterIII and had the correct folders appear, but when I put the mods into the mod folder, it would look like for example the Tonnage one would have a folder called NYGM Tonnage War v2.0, inside that I'd have folders "data" and "documentation" what I did was ran JSGME and it would have the NYGM Tonnage War v2.0 folder on the left hand side, so I'd then tell JSGME to install but what I found was that instead of installing it would simply put those folders in the main SH3 directory.
I hope that better explains my miserable attempts, I did manually install it successfully once I gave up on JSGME, having said that I'd prefer to use the JSGME as it is not as long-winded as manually!!! lol

When running JSGME the files appear in the left column area, highlite the desired mod, click on the right arrow in the section between the two columns, approve any any changes, and close JSGME after it's done.
A JSGME compatible file is suppossed to look like Unique file name/data/ files modified.

Sorry about making this into two posts but I just realized what you were saying, did you get a question from JSGME about overwriting files? If so say yes.
BTW NYGM-TW and GW are two seperate mods, non-combinable.

No problem about the double post, sometimes I miss things too
No that was the thing I had no such thing about overwriting, just tried again though and it worked ok, got the message about overwriting and the mod works, thanks :)

Are you able to install SHIII in two places with two different mods?
Like I want one install with GreyWolves and another with NYGM Tonnage War mods. I'll have campaigns active in both and I'm not sure how it would handle swapping the two with the Generic Mod program, or is that my best bet?

Do a dual install and put JSGME into each 1

Excellent!! Thanks for your help!
Been reading some other threads too and I'm guessing I should have a seperate SH3 Commander install as well? One for each path? Or maybe I'll just run that for one of the folders. So many options. :)

Read the readme with SH3commander
one install of the program can point to multiple installs

After 3 hours of installing and reinstalling I finally got it. My main problems at the end were somehow patching in GW *before* 1.4 which resulted in some wonderfuly old and obscure errors. Than my save game was corrupted/corrupting at least and I couldn't finish it. But least I now have dual installs for both mods and it's 100% totally apparent I'm not ready for Wolves At War.
