I have received messages that German resupply vessels are available at sea. I have sailed to these "milkcows" but nothing happens. Anybody know how to refuel and rearm the sub? I have the SH III expansion pack installed with the single missions "Gato" type sub included.

Tut tut tut seawolves

Anyway - press Esc when close to the milchcow.Exit the mission and then dock at *** same as you would for your home port
Unless your using SH3Commander 2.6 or have changed your basic.cfg before you sailed - you will be at resupply a while
When you start your next patrol you should be sat next to the milch

Oh Hi and welcome aboard - just noticed it was your first post

Not sure which pack you have but resupply is resupply.
In my GW I sometimes approach the resupply sub but it is not there (It is but it does not show)!
I get closer on the map by zooming in but in spite of being 100 yards from the spot, no resupply boat!
I simply click esc and click exit mission. It will then give me the option below right and always says "Dock at U-XXX so I click it and end the mission.
I start the new mission from there fine every time.
Note, when you dock at a resupply you get your renown but no medals or ability to upgrade your U-Boat.
I would not dock for resupply if I had a good patrol and wanted to get my medals to increase the crew effectiveness.
I usually use this to go across the Atlantic, do my patrol grid, avoid the enemy and refuel (VIIC)so I can patrol off Newfoundland.

Thanks for your help bigboywooly and Wulfmann! Works just like you said, however, I was able to upgrade my crew and promote. This may be because the SH III expansion pack upgrades SH III with the latest patches and graphics (so they say). You can get the expansion pack from GMX Media for $ and I believe it to be worhtwhile.

:hmm: interesting
The addon is not made by Ubi only permission given and IIRC all they have done is used whatever was there before with a few additions
So is your patrol grid NULL ?

After docking at a milchcow you can give medals and promote. You have to go to the crew screen when you start the next patrol. Just did it yesterday.

When I do that in GreyWolves I am not able to go to the promotions and medals or upgrade U-Boat section. When I move the cursor there it does not engage.

Well I think that's how it should be anyway. I believe it should just be a re-supply point.

I can't do upgrades either but can do medals and promotions. Using GW also. I'm in the middle of a patrol right now, hanging around BB83, when I finish am going to dock with U-460 or U-463. I'll be a little more observant when I do.

Okay, just finished patrol and docked at U-463. Couldn't click on crew list in the desktop screen (the first one you see when ending a patrol), clicked on the back button (in the lower left corner of the screen), was in the office screen, clicked on the file cabinet, clicked on awards, awarded promotions/medals/qualifications. clicked out of that screen and out of the game. Left one medal (Uboat war badge) and will check when I restart the game to see if it can be awarded.

I'm using Grey Wolves and SH3 Commander. I did a resupply from a German freighter at the Canary Islands I believe. Wasn't offered the promotions, medals and qualification as normal and I wasn't aware of the file cabnet method.

Then patrolled quad BF and sunk about 3 freighters and returned to port where crew was awarded 7 war medals. Exited game and brought up SH3 Commander where I went to Manage Crew section where it was suggested I get rid of the most experience officer so he could go to command school and get his own boat. Then I awarded some promotions and medals to the rest of the crew.

I'm not quite as concerned with the experience, rank and medals factors as before because I decide to run SH3 Commander's "No Fatigue" and I'm sure glad that I did. Moving those little men around became time consuming and a big pain if you know what I mean.

Also, I've reduced my crew to around 45 or 46 men since I'm not concerned with fatigue. If I'm not mistaken the normal Type VII carried a total of 44 men (4 officers, 10 petty officers and 30 crew) at least until BdU increased the flak armament later in the war. When I get more flak guns I'll add back some crew to man them.

Alright, ready to start next patrol. Currently at U-463. Launch game thru Commander 2,6 as usual, get to office screen, click on file cabinet (I have to replace a transfered sailor too), click on awards, award the Uboat war badge, add replacement sailor, click on the map and off we go on another adventure.

Hi all i have to docked at a resupply boat............Yes i can replace crew and promote etc.etc.as i do in my home base befor every patrol.ie click on the filing cabinet.............
this makes perfect sense to award crew on a resupply good for moral etc...
You cannot upgrade though as the U-boat desk to upgrade doesnt work.

This is fair as a resupply sub doesnt have the time or equipment to upgrade its a dock job.......so its very realistic that you can only fuel, torp, feed and carry out the other minor things that need done in such a short time..........

Has any one ever been attacked while in resupply is it possible.

Yes, it seems that if you dock at a "milkcow" BEFORE completing your patrol assignment, you lose your completed patrol bonus renown.

.

Yes. Even tho I'm setting it in Commander 2.6 prior to launching the patrol, it resets to NULL when the game opens.
