View Full Version : The usual unrecorded tonnage issue, why??
Hi all,
I've done my first patrol with the GW mod and noticed that I was a victim of the common 'unrecorded tonnage bug'. The same thing happened to me on my previous carreer (I didn't upgrade before the first patrol) , so I reinstalled everything and started a new carreer and didn't upgrade before shipping out.
I did my first patrol and sunk 8 ships...a good 35K tons....came back to wilhelmhaven. Upon docking my patrolstatistics say that I didn't sink anything.
I definitly didn't upgrade before shipping out...so why do I get this bug?
Any clues?

If you want your tonnage score to be correctly recorded you have to send a patrol report by radio message! ;)
I sent a patrol after every attack (and seeing the 'She's going down' message). :hmm:

Try doing again it before docking...

No thats absolutely not true... it doesnt matter if you send a Report or not...
@Boggy
I dunno why you are a victim to this bug, i only had this in MP a few times, never in SP...

As far as I know, if you upgrade your sub before leaving port on the first patrol, no tonnage is recorded. How on Earth Ubisoft came up with such a bug, though, I don't know;).
You can always manually edit it in the cfg file
Well, I just finished my second patrol, and the tonnage is recorded!
I only sank allied ships this time....on my first patrol I also sank a few neutral units, could that also be a reason why the tonnage wasn't recorded?
A funny thing happened during this second patrol, I shot a torpedoe at a large merchant, it hit but it didn't sink....so I repositioned myself and shot again and sunk it this time round. But for some reason I didn't get the message 'she's going down' and therefore also didn't get the tonnage. I've not seen this before...is it another bug?

Hmm did you wait around to actualy see if it realy went down? As if you get 2 far from the ship it will magicly fix itself (once you get out of sensor range) and continue on.
Neutral shipping in a convoy should not affect your renoun. But, this could depend on the year. I sank a neutral Coastal Merchant in a convoy, July 1942 heading out of the Channel back south to wherever, and my renoun was not penalised. She showed as my target, and green in the TDC which means neutral. But note too that she had a deckgun mounted on the stern.
I my Nov 1940 patrol I sank a Neutral C2 cargo with no deckguns, and had no reprimands or loss of renoun.
When I put the second torpedoe in her she broke in half and sank straight away...yet no 'she's going down' message. Not sure why, I was only about 500 mtrs from her.
The neutral units that I sank on my first patrol (in 1939) were all lone norwegian merchants.
Off to start my third patrol...

Thats because the neutrals use the same ships as the Allies\Axis countries and as they evolve thru the years they get guns
So unfortunately that means neutrals get them too

Contrary to popular opinion, you do get penalized for sinking neutral shipping. From basic.cfg :
[RENOWN]
RenownReachGridObjCompleted=500
RenownPatrolGridObjCompleted=200
CompletedPatrol=100
NEUTRAL=-1 <--------------------------------------------
ALLIED=1
AXIS=-10
WrongShipSunk=-5000
FirstRankRenown=1000
SecondRankRenown=3500
EndCampaign=-5000
