Go to the Data/Cfg folder. Open the Basic.cfg file. Down near the bottom, right after 'Coning' towers, you'll find the ammo loads for each gun. Just change them to what you want.

There's two numbers you can change.

One is the "slot size" for your gun. The other is the number of "slots" your boat holds.

The slot size is the one Steve is talking about. 2000 for flak guns is a common amount. This is what is listed under the cannon's name in the basic.cfg file, and it will let you choose starshells and armor piercing amounts for your deck guns. Flaks obviously only carry AP's. You can alter both deck gun loadout, and flak ammo.

The number of "slots" that your boat carries is listed under the individual boats in the same basic.cfg file. This only applies to the deck gun. So you can alter your boat to carry 50 slots of 800 rounds, if you want.

Yes, it's possible to alter the number of torpedoes your boat holds. It's a little bit buggy even at the best of times, and it's *really* buggy if you do a half-arsed job of it.

You've got to change the amounts in the basic.cfg file. Look down through there, and you'll see stuff like "ForeInternalRes109=1". Add internal reserves and external reserves. However, if you add too many, the boat's configuration file doesn't know how to deal with them, and you'll get the same problems the IX-D2 has.

Which is why you also have to alter the boat file in the \submarine folder. I've never done this, so I can't give you any specifics. I'm not even sure if it's a text file you have to edit, or if it's a binary. In your type 9b, you're pretty safe in adding 5 to your internals and 3 to your externals just by editing the basic.cfg, but anything more than that and you're going to have to get more involved.

As a workaround to fiddling with this issue, you can look up my "cheats" thread and use the torpedo power-booster from that. This just guarantees one kill per torpedo. It's not the same as being able to fire a spread at each ship because you've got so many spares, but you can always give yourself the Z2 "homing" torpedoes which can lock onto boats traveling at 6kts and just use that instead of a spread.

Hi,
I've just run my first patrol with NYGM 2.4. Using a type 7b. I was attacked by an aircraft and my AA did not open fire. I got sunk!!!! Checking the "magazine" I find there are no AA rounds in there! I've tried basic.cfg but all seems to be in order. I have 10 slots, 40 per for 88 and 1000 for AA, but in the mag there are only 7 slots full of 88 bricks. How do I get ammo for the AA? If I have a qualified AA man I like taking on the occasional aircraft.

Thank you. Very usefull info. No more time out of ammo when I'm giving the last hit to my prey.
