okay, I finally got DW after waiting a while for the price to drop a little(it never did:-? ), and I've got a couple of questions I haven't seen answered yet.

1. Is there any way to reverse the vertical mouse axis for the 3D view?

2. Is there any way to switch between platforms during a mission? So If I'm in the ship, and launch the Helo, can I switch to the helo?

3. how can you tell when a wire guided torp has a solid lock on a target? Sometimes, it seems like it should lock to me, but when I engage it, it goes into it's search pattern even though the target is directly between the red lines.

4. If I'm running at 1280x1024, why does everything look great except the sky seems to have this low resolution smog in it(Nvidia 6600GT)? Is there any way to get rid of this?

5. Where can I find how much fuel/battery is left? Is it possible to run out of fuel?

that's it for now, thanks :)

I think it depends on the game graphics engine using 16bit graphics instead of 32 bits graphics.
What you observe is called dithering and it happens on ATI cards also.
It becomes worse if you enable AA and AF since the game doesn't support them.
There is no way to eliminate "the low resolution smog".

This appears to be system dependant. Perhaps there is some DirectX or driver setting, I dunno. For example, my mouse is reversed and I haven't done anything to make that happen.

No. DW isn't really that kind of game.

3. how can you tell when a wire guided torp has a solid lock on a target? Sometimes, it seems like it should lock to me, but when I engage it, it goes into it's search pattern even though the target is directly between the red lines.

You can check if a WG torpedo is homing on a target if you try to give it a directional command on the wire and it does not respond. The ability of the weapon to detect a target depends on your ability to properly aim the weapon. If your solution and presets are off, the weapon will miss. Remember, the contact marks on the Nav Map are only "real" to you, the result of effort done to achieve a correction range and course using bearing only information (even if the autocrew TMA is doing the work).

I recommend playing a lot of time using show truth when you are first learning the game. It will help you understand how your sensor data relates to what is actually happening and how various objects interact with the DW environment and what this looks like on your sensors.

5. Where can I find how much fuel/battery is left? Is it possible to run out of fuel?

The battery meter is located in the Maneovering station of the Kilo classes. If you run out of battery you can't move, and have to snorkle with at least one diesel to charge the battery.

The MH60 has two hours of fuel I believe. Yes, you can runout but there is no meter, unfortunately. To reload ammo and fuel, you can land on any friendly platform and you'll be restocked.

You can ask some of the resident flyboys about their landing procedures, I've never needed more than three torpedoes or two hours (or I died). :p

Cheers,
David

This is not possible

3. how can you tell when a wire guided torp has a solid lock on a target? Sometimes, it seems like it should lock to me, but when I engage it, it goes into it's search pattern even though the target is directly between the red lines.

When it has lock you will hear loud pings ever half second to every second go to your active intercept screen look and see if the bars are going green to yellow or yello to red if they going green to yellow or further then its locked you, best move out realy is to drop countermeasures and hard turn 90 degrees but be warned doesnt always work.

5. Where can I find how much fuel/battery is left? Is it possible to run out of fuel?

The frigate will never run out of fuel to be honest unless your sitting at your computer for a month you probably wont run out of fuel infact it doesnt have a fuel setting because the missions are considerd short some of the longest missions you may do will take a few hours and you realy are not going to use a full tank in that time even at flank all the way.

The kilo can run out of battery you will find this on the ship control panel near where it says port and starbord engines its a dial with a percentage meter on it, if your very careful you can definatly get 24 to 36 hours out of your battery but if your reckless you will be surfacing within the hour, only to find that my akula is on your tail.

Good luck Good hunting God speed
