OK, so going through the English Channel is a relative breeze in "Vanilla", but is there anyone here who's successfully navigated the Channel in the Grey Wolves mod?

I've tried it a couple of times, but every time I got intercepted and sunk, or had to abort after hitting a blasted mine. Has anyone made it all the way through in one piece?

Yes have made it a few times
To get over the mines problem I use a program called SH3GEN which marks your map as to minefields
The bit between Dover and Calais is the worst for enemy ships
Try running with " decks awash " so dive times are shorter
Run silent and keep speeds to 2 kts when you pick up a sonar contact
I normally time it so I try to enter the channel when its dark so can run on surface till I spot anything
Its difficult but can be done

Took me 3 times but finally was able to make it all the way thru. Even the 3rd time I hit a mine (I think)at the far west just as it opens up. Made it into Brest with major damage but I did make it.

It's easy enough in 1939. The mines aren't there yet.

It can be done later, but I wouldn't try it myself. My job is to sink merchant ships, not play 'mine-tag'.

took me some time to work it out but yes I have quite a few times even done it in late 44 early 45.

Been able to do it during several patrols. Took major damage, but survived a mine hit in Oct. '39. I usually wait until night now and try to thread the gauntlet on the surface.

I have but it was at the very outbreak of the war.

I have done it several times, but I have also been blown to scarp metal several times. Now I just go around .

Oddly enough, U-123 and I have successfully navigated through the Channel and destroyed many a Tommy vessel. Now, what's odd is that I wasn't particularly experienced then and I still navigated through successfully. Then again, it could just be because it was 1939 when I did that.

Yep, the channel run in GW's 1939 is ass-easy. You can safley get through without even diving if you hug the French coast, and make your run at nighttime (I usually do it at ahead standard or full, at the narrowest points)

'Course, I havn't tried it any later, so I can't comment on the mines... but judging from how many times I've hit mines so far (Twice in one day!), it wouldn't be worth it later on, unless there was something really juicy on the other side that you had to get to NOW ;)
