Hello,
first i'd like to say thanks to the modders again, it is really incredible what has become of SH3 with all those mods.
I have patched to 1.4b and installed GW and NYGM.

I realized that apart from the deck-gun firing rate that is not to my liking a U-boat is much too easyly damaged by machine guns alone. Now i know that a U-boat is vulnerable to all kinds of leaks, but what a patrol boat did to my IXC2 is a bit overdone. I do not know if that's a stock game problem or ...

I am surfaced and have all stations manned, mg and deck gun (deck gun, one 3.8 cm and two double 20 mm FlaK), and there is a patrol boat approaching. Now i would think my seven men plus trained officer quickly make toast of this boat, but ... no hits. The boat comes near until some 20 metres and begins firing, my guns do not seem to have any effect on the patrol boat.
Instead all kinds of U-boat damages appear: Flooding in an unbelievable speed, all deck crew dead immediately, both propshafts damaged (huh, submerged with mgs??), damaged batteries e.t.c. e.t.c.
Now what i'd believe would be the killing of the deck crew and minor damage of all kinds like perforated saddle tanks and the like, but surely no interior damage (batteries?) and flooding of the pressure hull. Additionally the sheer number of my Flak and mgs should have destroyed the enemy boat or at least killed its more or less unshielded crew, but instead my 25 mm steel pressure hull gives in to mg fire.
Is this stock game or did someone change the impact of mg fire on the U-boats ? Can we change this ?
Thanks and greetings,
Catfish

What do you mean - installed GW and NYGM ?
Two seperate installs or added them both together ?

Hello,
yes, installed both. Some time ago this was described as being possible. I know one overwrites some aspects of the one being installed before, but i like it. This problem is probably only connected to one of the mod-packages, if at all - may be stock game, so i asked.

I'm afraid it is not possible to install both, because you will at least ruin some features of each modpack, if not worse problems. I would suggest that you do a dual installation. There are several threads and tutorials on how to do that. It's a 10 minute process.

If you do that, just remember to use different campaigns for each,

Installing both together could also screw up alot of things including damage modeling. The only way you could hope to install both is to sit down and manualy go through everything and merge them.

Hello,
thanks for your answers. I take it that this kind of damage modeling is related to the install of NYGM, which i did last. Three direct hits with the deckgun and numerous FlaK hits did not sink this Elco boat, soo ... in NYGM ships sometimes do not sink for days, so that's why i think of a relation, but there may well be some interaction.
So i'll try with GW alone, just to see how that "feels". Thanks a lot again  ,

Well GW also uses the NYGM damage model..but an earlier version of it.Just so you are aware. So you may have had a screwed up damage model by having both installed at the same time.

Ya also there is some weirdness with both with the little torpedo boats, and other tiny ships taking far to much damage then they should be able to.
