Before there was SH3 I was fighting in the air as a Luftwaffe pilot in the IL2 skies. I would download all my skins & everything else from the one site (IL2 Skins) and then one day....gone!. From that time on I would be left/right/up/down looking for sites on the net & as time went these became limited & stale.

Then came SH3, with all the modders going crazy with enhencements. Then I noticed a site "uboot realsimulation" the stop mod site with all the stuff you need.....excellent! Then I thought :hmm: if this site ever goes down like "IL2 Skins" did then it will be ground hog day.

Different reasons for the sites being down, but the endstate is the same start looking else where for mods for this great game.

Here we go again

Well hopefully Terrapin will be able to update his site soon and put an end to those dork hackers.

Btw i think its only the front page that is down, not the rest of it as i was able earlier today to access the gramophone section of it. So if you have any direct links you can still access them most likely.

Yep venatore, i was a me110 pilot and like you worshiped il-2 skins, and i must say i hope to god this wonderful site dosen't go the same way. If i remember rightly it was a bandwidth problem and finance disaster that killed skins (but i think they plan to get it going again) please god i hope that dosen't happen here, subsim mustn't sink !!!!

Maybe if we are so scared of this happening to SH3 some people should just download the entire catalogue of SH3 mods and skins and everything else, hard copy it a few times, and then we won't be sunk (pun:roll:). At that point it would be easy to rebuild our collection of mods on another site.

I have 7 CD's of mods going right back to the start of the game & you will find a lot of others with the same & probably onle too happy to put them all on 1 DVD & sent to ever will host them!:D And that is where the real problem lies, who would host them? Site fees are very costly & how Terrapins site manages to stay afloat with neglect & hacking going on is beyond me!:-?
