Gutentag Leute,

I've just started playing SH3 with the GW mod.
I'm still in the naval academy and when I do the deckgun training I only manage to sink 1 ship(2 if I'm lucky). Having played this game before without the mod I remember that it wasn't impossible to destroy all 5 ships with the gun, but with GW that doesn't seem to be the case.

Has the damage model been changed so that the gun inflicts less damage than it used to?

I've only got HE shells in the training (no AP whatsoever), should I still fire at the waterline? or is it better to fire at the cargo?

Vielen Dank,

Boggy

I would proberbly say "yes" fire at the waterline because the ships in the training mission are basically the same that are used in the career mode.

Definately fire at the waterline and at different compartments as the ships damage model is designed to sink slowly rather than just explode
So dont be in a hurry:up:

Greetings from Venezuela.

The DW mod is oustanding in every aspect but I prefer to blow up the ships easy, is stupid to need a hundred shells to sink a poor small cargo ship.

Can I dusable only this portion of the mod?

Thanks a lot and excuse my poor english.

The ship damage mod is made by NYGM team. The ships sink by flooding, not fires or anything else. So, aim your deckgun below the waterline to punch holes to the hull. It takes time for the ships to sink.

Good to hear you like GW, we are going at flank speed towards our next release and believe me, if you like GW1.1, you love the next version!

Here´s the URL for the GW website http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/TGW/ . Under the 'Latest news' you can see what were are doing for the next release.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've had a bit more luck if I fire exactly at the waterline. During a carreer if I don't sink the ship with one torpedoe I surface and attack it with the gun and seem to be succesfull (after quite a few shots).

Thanks again,

It's best to go through the Naval Academy with no mods. It's the only way to get maximum Renown.

After the reading of the damn damage mod filosophy I can agree with them in general but I think there are some points missed.

If the only thing that matters is to make holes in the hull why dont use AP shells? instead they not use this at all and focused in HE shells mostly intended for spread damage and not to perforate armored hulls.

What do you think about?

Keep up the good work

Because the best evidence available indicates that real U-boats didn't carry AP shells or starshells, and no merchants ever had armored hulls. The smallest ships to carry belt armor were light cruisers. And with no armor to worry about HE shells make bigger holes.

Thanks a lot I havent idea of this.

By the way I installed on top of GW this two mods:

MVP-1.0 and fullvulnmod.

And now I have ships that I can blow up like before and others with the new behavior, for every thing now is OK.

Good hunting.
