After you are out of ammo & torpedos what is the advantage if any in taking your ship back to base manually verses exiting the patrol & hitting the button return to base?
Some extra renown and the realism value of actually rueturning to port instead of getting Scotty to beam you up.:nope:
i modified my game so i get like 1000 renown for returning to base manually and it still doesnt motivate me to do it :p

Open Basic.cfg. Look for lines:
[RENOWN]
RenownReachGridObjCompleted=200
RenownPatrolGridObjCompleted=200
CompletedPatrol=100
NEUTRAL=-1
ALLIED=1
AXIS=-10
WrongShipSunk=-5000
FirstRankRenown=100
SecondRankRenown=3500
EndCampaign=-5000
Edit to your liking (mainly the orange lines) - it's pretty straight forward what each line means.
Thanks for help.
It give me reasons to manually return to base.
I actually get a kick out of standing there looking at the sub pen as it comes into view

Well as I play in the Wolfpack campaign I have to sail back to base
Not something I used to do when first started playing but does increase your danger as you have to be carefull on way home with few or no torps and maybe Hull damage too
In fact in my current campaign patrol am making my way down to meet the supply tanker in Cadiz - have had DC attack and have no periscopes or sonar :o one crew member dead and 1 prop out of action as well as having no torps and deckgun destroyed too
If I was playing on my own I might have beamed back to base but have to stay alive long enough to get to the supply ship now - well its was either the supply ship or try and run the channel with no eyes or ears
Certainly adds an edge

I use to paddle back to base until I had the perfect patrol of like 170 tons ... I was so happy and proud and then BAM hit a mine in my own harbor :oops: ,, game over :cry:
Now I just warp back unless I am close and want to take the chance
Well as I play in the Wolfpack campaign I have to sail back to base

Hi
Its an online campaign where we are directed out to patrols by BDU etc
You play your own game within a certain time frame with multiplayer games if you and other boats can find the same convoy - we all use the same SCR as scripted by BDU so they know where to direct boats
Kinda cool
On my 4th patrol at the moment

They prefer everyone to use the stock game so noone has an advantage but I use GW as if anything GW makes it harder
The only thing you need to download is their SCR
Have a look over the site and read some patrol\radio reorts
Can be very immersive
If you like what you see and want to have a go http://www.subclub.info/phpBB_subclub/viewtopic.php?t=14974
and apply for a boat
I love how it says there are 3 thousand registered users and that the most online at once was 8.:p
