Changing U boat availability

There has been a thread on this, in particular to make a type XXI available in 1939,. for a bit of "unfair" fun. I have tried to do so but cannot get Commander to pick up the XXI, the sub type and number remain blank.I have altered the Flotilla file as shown (in this case flotilla 2)

Clearly I am missing something, I have altered the basic cfg file as in the thread but until I can get the XXI up into the flotilla in Commander then I cant proceed.
Any Ideas from those who have done this successfully?

You didnt say what version of sommander you are running

In 2.5 there is a .cfg file in

C:\Program Files\SH3 Commander\U-boat\XXI\data\Roster\German\Submarine

Where I presume you will have to change the availability dates too

Yes, I am running Commander 2.5 still, Changing the dates on this file still dont bring up the XXI ! Thanks for the hunch, I did not know those files exisred !

The SH3Cmdr "U-boat availability.cfg" file only adjusts availability for the 1st, 2nd and 7th Flotilla. None of these Flotillas received the Type XXI (thus the XXI settings in the file are superfluous).

If you adjust Basic.cfg to make the boat appear earlier, assuming you are adjusting the correct values and the correct Flotilla.cfg entries* (ie if you plan on making it available in "other" Flotillas), you need to:
1. Rollback SH3Cmdr FIRST
2. Make the appropriate Basic.cfg (and Flotilla.cfg if necessary) changes
3. Make the appropriate available date changes to \SH3 Commander\U-boat\XXI\data\Roster\German\Submarine\SSTypeXXI.cf g (to ensure you get a boat number)
4. Turn OFF the "Correct U-boat availability" option in SH3Cmdr.
