Ok just wondering if the guages in the stock sh3 game are anywhere near realistic when it comes to back lighting. I looked online and can not find any photos of the guages lit up at night. I cant imagine that the guages did not light up somehow because from what I have read and looked at the interior of the sub can be really dark when running with hatches closed.
Now I would guess that the guages have to be lit but it appears that in the stock game all the "so called" back lighting is comming from the center of all the guages.
Does anyone know what the actual guages looked like when lit up or can find me a photo. Also is there a good mod for the guages in sh3 to use. Started playing with the interior textures of the sub and wanted to try a few experiments.
Old gauges i know did one of two things when i have pulled things like ampmeters and voltmeters apart from equipment.
1. They either completly light the whole gauge as in simply adding a light bulb inside or under a clear piece of plastic (such as appears in SH3 stock guages)
2. They place a light behind a colored panel and only allow light to shine through the cutouts for all the numbers and markings. (Such as the dashboard readout on some cars and boats)
The other question i have would have to do with interior lighting on the sub itself. If you look at the view inside the submarine you will see lighting effects similar to the ones used on the outside for light houses and other effects that use the halo TGA map.
Is there a way to mod the interior effect of the light possible turn it down some. All the movies and pics i have seen of submarines show lighting but only in LOCAL areas not the entire compartment as seen in SH3. Be nice to see if there was a way to tone down the White light and increase the brightness of the station guages.
Just a thought i throw out there for everyone to think about or try.
