Order of Ships in Recognition Manual

Does anyone know what determines the order of the Merchant ships displayed in the Recognition Manual? I've researched this by going into all readable SH3 files, but have so far been unable to figure it out. My first two ships are the Chatham Hospital Ship and the Chatham Transport, which are new additions to the Merchant inventory, but not the most recent ones. It does not appear to be in alphabetical order or in size and tonnage order or based on date of entry or number of countries that have it, etc. If I could find out what the order is and in which file this is stored, I would probably revise it to put the ships in a more logical viewing order (i.e by class or by type or in ascending size). Any help would be appreciated. Thx

Well if I remember correctly ( long time since I used it ) they are in size order ?

They are divided in sections, determined by ship class:

1. Type 103: Passenger
2. Type 101: Tanker
3. Type 102: Cargo
4. Type 100: Replenishment (this class is not actually used)
5. Type 104: Coastal

Ships in each of these classese are then arranged in alphabetical order. Warships are sorted into each nations book, and are also arranged by class.

Thanks for the info -- this was very helpful. I presume the ship classes are in this order by design and cannot or should not be changed. The alphabetical part can probably be manipulated slightly by changing the ship names in Englishnames.cfg. I'm going to play around with this to see if I can place the ships within class in a more logical sequence (for example from largest to smallest). Thx
