After conversation with our file host Terrapin, and reviewing our download locations...

THE GW TEAM IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE HAVE PASSED THE 10,000 DOWNLOAD MARK!!!

THANK YOU GW FANS!!!

We are celebrating by launching The Grey Wolves Website (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/TGW/) designed and hosted by GW Dev Team Member JScones.

FURTHERMORE, The Grey Wolves website includes a new feature for GW users... AUTOMATICALLY-INSTALLING downloadable GW 1.1a Supermod files hosted by Subsim.com. Visit the webpage for more information, including screenshots, online readme, and changelog! (The available downloads include the GW version 1.1 update and 1024 Cfg/Bearing overlay hotfix.)

I want to say to both Mr. Neal Stevens and Mr. JScones how grateful the GW team is for your generous offers. I also want to thank Terrapin again. Your continued support is invaluable.

The GW team has gone back to work and is well underway, building our next major release. We have actively listened to our users... and are doing what needs to be done to make the GW mod as rock-solid as can be.

We hope you enjoy!

Is the GW 1.1a to be added to the GW 1.0, GW 1.1 patch, and the 1064 overlay patch, or is it necessary to reinstall all in a new SHIII setup? The GW 1.1a readme link does not make this clear

If you have GW1,1 and the overlay fix you don't need to install GW1.1a, this release is ment to address the instalation problems that many people have, it's a one step instalation similar to the one in the official patch.

Hi all....I have installed a clean copy of SH 3 three times now...I have also upgraded it all three times to the 1.4 version...however when I try and install grey wolves I get this error msg......An error occurred when trying to read the source file....C:\Programfiles\Ubisoft\SilentHunter\data\ interior\NSS_Uboat21_RR.000 The source file is corrupted.... I have tried to install the game three separate times now off my CD and then upgrade it....with the same result....if I try and continue and ignore it...another error msg comes up similar to this one except the Uboat # is different.......any ideas????

An error occurred when trying to read the source file....C:\Programfiles\Ubisoft\SilentHunter\data\ interior\NSS_Uboat21_RR.000 The source file is corrupted....

After you had uninstalled SH3, have you manually deleted the main SH3 dir?

Slick Rick

sure did....deleted the whole folder under program files....

Then try and install 1.1a into a seperate directory, if that worked copy everything into the SH3 dir.

Or maybe one of the archives is broken, these are the correct file sizes:

178.751.648 TGW11a-1.bin
179.300.000 TGW11a-2.bin
179.300.000 TGW11a-3.bin
179.154.367 TGW11a-4.bin
547.845 TGW11a.exe

When the installer installs a file, it performs a checksum comparison against that recorded when the file was first added to the installer (ie when I compiled it).

If the checksum differs, you get a message stating that the file is corrupt. With LZMA compression, if one file gets corrupted, then every file after that point becomes inaccessible (even though subsequent files may not be corrupted). It's a side effect of getting super-small d/l files.

Basically, your d/l of TGW11a-1.bin (at least) is corrupt. Have you compared the file size of your files to those outlined by Gizzmoe? If they differ, then this is definately the problem...but also remember that even if the byte size is the same, it does not mean that your files are OK.

This may seem frustrating now, but with the "old" installation method you wouldn't realise you had an installation problem until your game CTD...and then you'd spend hours tearing your hair out trying to find where the problem was.

BTW, I can't speak for any alternate d/l locations, but the files available at Subsim (which have the file sizes as quoted by Gizzmoe) are NOT corrupted. To be sure I just d/l and tried it (ahhh Subsim host plus fast broadband =)

Thatīs not quite correct. Only when you use the Solid Archive feature (stream compression) the files become inaccessible, with normal compression all files, except the corrupted files, can be unpacked.

This may seem frustrating now, but with the "old" installation method you wouldn't realise you had an installation problem until your game CTD...
Thereīs basically no difference between the old and the new method, both give you an error message if the archive is broken.

That may be, but at least correcting the problem is much simpler. :D

That's not my understanding with LZMA compression - but I only use solid compression anyway. Perhaps it depends somewhat on the compressor/decompressor?

Thereīs basically no difference between the old and the new method, both give you an error message if the archive is broken.
Yes, but you're missing my point. Under the old method, there was no individual file checksum comparison. The archive might be ok due to various reasons, but if any file within was "not as expected", or did not install as expected, you wouldn't necessarily know.

BTW, with both GW website threads in the same forum now, perhaps this one could be closed off?

Million of thanks for your job and effort Kpt Lehmann !!

Please, let me to know.

I had stored some versions of your supermod :

V1.07
V1.17

In this web page there are :

V1.0
V1.1
and the last

V1.1a

Am i up to date ?

Or need i to download the V1.1a ?

Many many thanks ....

The last and final (up this time) version is 1.1a.
If you have 1024 CFG/Bearing overlay fix installed over GW 1.1, you don't need install 1.1a.
1.1a version has simply and very useful installation program and it's simpler to install GW using this version than older GW 1.0 + GW 1.1 update + 1024 CFG/Bearing overlay fix.

There is no version 1.07 or 1.17. The .7z is the file extension, not part of the version number. So "The_Grey_Wolves_Update_v1.1.7z" isnīt version 1.1.7 or 1.17, itīs 1.1.

Hi... can some body help me plese ?

I finish to download the GWSM V1.1a via bittorrent.

Inside the folder downloaded i have the TGW11a.exe file ....

... plus 4 .bin files :

TGW11a-1.bin
TGW11a-2.bin
TGW11a-3.bin
TGW11a-4.bin

Are these .bin files necesary and part of the mod ?

Or are they temp files generated by the p2p program ?

Thanks in advance...

As bigboywooly said, these files are parts of GW 1.1a.
Simply run TGW11a.exe to install GW.
