I am not getting the full tonnage value that I sank on my last patrol. I have 100% realism, and I sank 10499 tons last patrol, but only got around 9000-something tons to use for upgrades...

Hi Rose

Did you by any chance upgrade your crew in base? if you did i believe the readme with NYGM states that you can only do so with crew worth 0 points, if you have upgraded with crew worth 50-> if will effect your tonnage. if you've not done any of the above and you've not included any mods which effect crew then i think this is one for DTB.

Nope, I always recruit men who are worth 0 points. I guess DTBs gonna have to take a look in here.

Do you have any other mods installed? Are you using SH3 Commander?

SH3 commander, Stranger in the Night, and a few imported ship skins, but thats it.

Perhaps you sank a small neutral ship?

Rose

Nope, I only sank two merchants, one was 5442 tons and the other was in the 4000 ton range, so if one of them was neutral, then i would have only around 6000 total tons instead of 9000-something.

I think there was a problem with NYGM and the way SHCom handles the random tonnage feature that was going to be adressed in shcom 2.6. I think Ted posted a way to fix it but I can't remember where. it may be in the NYGM manual somwhere.

Gotcha :D. I hope SH3Cmdr 2.6 comes out soon!

If you look in the Tonnage War documentation there are instructions on how to correct the discrepency that occurs with SH3 Commander. It's a simple edit of one of the config files in the SH3 folder in My Documents.

I am going to assume you installed the additional SH3 Commander files in order to be able to use SH3 Commander with NYGM TW v2.0. Please check in your SH3 the file ship displacements.cfg in your Commander\cfg folder to make sure RenownAwardedEqualsRandomTonnage=1. If it is set to zero, please set to 1.

I have RenownAwardedEqualsRandomTonnage set to 1, but I still get a discrepency I have to correct by copying the total tonnage from carreers.cfg into the delta renown space in patrols 0.cfg (as instructed in Appendix A of the documentation from Tonnage War 1.03).

Interesting. I suppose that's the problem then. I thought this feature worked in SH3 Commander R2.5?

The "RenownAwardedEqualsRandomTonnage" addition formed part of SH3Cmdr R2.5. The only effect of this setting is that SH3Cmdr writes each ship's random tonnage value to the "RenownAwarded" setting in the corresponding ship cfg file instead of writing the usual renown value. Thus a 7953 ton C3 will yield 7953 renown, instead of the usual 240 or so. REMEMBER THOUGH, that SH3 applies it's own randomisation of +/- a few tons, so the renown and displacement values will NOT be exactly the same. There's no way that either NYGM or SH3Cmdr can overcome this.

SH3Cmdr (by default) makes no other renown changes or impacts on the awarding of renown.

CA=ouls someone post the relavent information here. I don't have 1.03 (and can't seem to find it.) and the information doesn't seem to be in the new one.

Same thing with tonnage is happening with my career. I have sunk for 24009 tons or something like that on my first patrol, but in main career screen i see only 23583 tons. Is this maybe because i have upgraded hydrophone before i went on first patrol?

Hi all.

I just started using mods (NYGM in particular) and have the same problem with career tonnage values. I did a test and started a patrol with every option box checked and sank one Tramp Steamer for 2,301 tons. Upon returning to base this value was properly in the Ships Log as well as the Aces list. The value was only 2,210 in the career history listing for career tonnage however (where Renown would normally be). Then I proceeded to "buy" every upgrade in the port and the career tonnage value (2210) never changed as upgrades don't cost renown anymore, just time. Watch out for new crew though!!
I then exited the game to check SH3Commander 2.6's values in the profile and it was correctly listed at 2,301 tons in all areas.
So it seems that editing that one cfg file is a very little problem, consider it simulating the paperwork of the patrol.
Anyway, Thank You to all modders!!!

I like the after patrol paperwork analogy!! I'm sure the commanders had to do a ton of that stuff!

Ok, so I just looked at this thread for the first time since leaving for Europe over a month ago. During that time, SH3Cmdr 2.6 has come out. I was wondering if it is still necessary to set RenownAwardedEqualsRandomTonnage to 1, or if SH3Cmdr 2.6 has addressed the tonnage/renown problem. (Sorry for bombarding you with so many questions during the past week JScones!)

Hi,
It might possibly be to do with the way SHIII handles the tonnage - I think you need to add the new ships somewhere other than just the roster and english ship names. I whacked a couple of Rose Castle class ore carriers on my last patrol - the patrol log picked them up, SHIIICmdr picked them up but my SHIII tonnage score did not.

No idea where though.
