How did no-one notice that under Data\CFG\main.cfg , that you can change the screen resolution????:shifty:
Well get rid of your microsoft application fixer and regain your F keys!!!
I took 2 weeks looking through every cfg file and dll for a fix, and it was sitting right in front of us.:damn:
I've already tried it. Mine's set to 1600x1200.
If you have any problems let me know and email me.:up:
HUH!! Is this true???

Of course we noticed that setting, do you think we are blind? SH3 still runs at 1024x786, no matter what resolution you set there.

Change it in your documents and settings folder. That might help. But if you change it in the data main cfg, any new game should use it if you have to delete the former.

This does not work.No matter what number you set in either of those config files..you will always see the game in 1024x768 resolution and no higher.The game is locked at the 1024x768 resolution.
You can only get a higher resolution by using the following method...

Dunke Dunke Herr Commadore! This I wasn't aware of. So it's hard coded in the files then?

Nah, he just didn't confirm the results before posting.
We know it doesn't work because screenshots and the like are still at 1024x800.
And, in comparison to the way other data is stored in SH3, it seems a bit "out of place" to record the settings in the format "1024 x 800". More work for the parser if stored this (redundant) way. Such data, if used, would usually be stored in two settings:
width=1024
height=800
or alternatively in SH3:
Resolution=1024|800
The current setting seems no more than a "label".

If I remember correctly this came up when only a handful of us had received their copies and most still were sweating out the delivery man.
Kind of funny.....:yep: :lol: ....and also indicates that a higher resolution apparently isn't all that discernible.;)

With this method I never achieved to change my game resolution (I followed the steps, you can be sure). There were a number of players (me included) that couldnt get higher resolutions by this way.
Does anyone know any other way to rise my resolution in game?
Thanks in advance.

I thought this method would actually work if you changed the file to Read Only? I've never tried it because 1024x768 is just fine for me.
If I remember rightly the DX9res tool is XP SP1 compliant, there is a fix for those with SP2 but not sure what it was!:-?

you need the Microsoft Application Compatibility Tool and the dx9res10.zip, then its possible to chance the resolution with WinXP and Service Pack2.
both file's are here:

NO comment to all of you
It worked for me
Maybe we need an investigation. There should be no reason it worked for me and not any of you

Well, what´s your system specs? OS, which Servicepack, video driver, exact DX version. Are you sure that the DX replacement DLL is no longer in the SH3 dir? Also post a screenshot, please...

IIRC the simple test is to take a screenshot from within the game and then check out the resulting image size.
Oh, and btw, in main.cfg the resolution value is "1024 x 800", yet in the game the resolution is actually 1024 x 768, thus creating even more doubt that changing the values has any impact.
