Fifth item down on the left column: HyperUpload::Download.

I don't know why they made it so hard to find, but I did find it-eventually. Anyway, that's the one to click.

Hmm, I think you are probably referring to the 2 torpedo sounds Don, I would love to get them louder but may distort, I certainly don't want the sounds clipped, I will try again but can't guarantee any better results! ;) The original sounds are even quieter that on my system you have to listen very closely to even know there's a sound there! :-? probably a SH3 fault or the sounds may be proportionate to the control room! :)
For those having problems downloading try here at rapidshare:

Cheers.

Edit: If the Torpedo sounds are the problem Don try these, as I am online I haven't tried them myself but they are a max, any higher & the sound will be too distorted, anyone trying these please report, Thanks.

@reece
just a tip, dont use sounds with bad quality. the sounds would be very good, if they wouldnt sound so "far away" and recorded like from...tv with a microphone...

the only one i would use is the one for the torpedo hatch...

ah and a tip for the DC exploding from submarine... use a louder sound for this one, this will boost the main wabo-effect, i discovered that by using this combination: http://rapidshare.de/files/21490361/Sound.rar.html

@Fangschuss

Oopsie, little accident on your 7th patrol? :rotfl:

Understand that totally, the depthcharge sound is used when a ship explodes as well, the sounds used are digital stereo that have to be converted to mono then effects, bass, etc applied, however I am working on something else that may help! :)

what tools do you use for editing sounds? im using the Acoustica MP3 Audio Mixer if i want to mix some stuff together etc. and "Goldwave" for editing stuff like bass, treble etc. etc. (with GW, everything is possible, i love this tool!)

Yes I can mix as well, I use Wavelab, Getting suitable stuff can be a problem, It's a pity SH3 wont accept Stereo, only with some of the ogg files, but these can be tricky to edit, sometimes they work fine & othertimes CTD, I have made some stereo speech files that have been edited to match the first officers lips when given the orders but still having the Das Boot theme. :)
If you listen yourself to the original 'Torpedo tube opening.wav' sound it's almost 'not there', to get them higher ofcource brings out background sounds as well, & since a lot are edited from movie sounds it's hard to get clean sounds, often they contain a mix of music, breathing etc and hard to get out! :-?
We do what we can, but I am working on something that may be a vast improvement, if it works I will post my find! :up:

di you know, you can use stereo sounds for SHIII! for SFX it isnt a problem (im using some, no problems so far?). the only problem is stereo+ogg (voice). there were several crashes if authors used stereo speech files (as example the DB sound mod).

i know the problem abour background noise very well, pretty hard to get rid of. but usually i dont use movie sounds anymore, except they are clean or dont disturb athmosphere...

looking forward to your find... ah and who is "we..." you dont work alone?

I must admit that I was working on theogg files most of all that I encountered the problems, will try some stereo again & see what happens. :D

Edit:What I've been working on: The SDL Mixer file, this is really the key to editing the sound files in SH3, basically it's a set of rules to play the sound files. It doesn't really matter what the volume is (even gain at 1db) the sound is limited by the SH3.sdl mixer file. I used a Hex editor & did some testing (adjustments) to the file with the result that I thought! In the game pressing Q opens the torpedo door, Firing a torpedo opens the torpedo door + fires the torpedo, I can understand now why the Open torpedo door sound is dead quiet! Please do this test, download the SH3.sdl file here:
http://rapidshare.de/files/21577417/SDL_Test.rar.html
backup yours, copy this test version to data\Sound folder run SH3 go to naval academy select torpedo training and use q to open door & then fire torpedo, you will notice the sound volume is great for the Torpedo tube opening.wav now but when you press fire the same sound is used followed by Torpedo_Tubes.wav !!
I tried to find a good wave editor that has SDL mixer built in but no go for windows, the only one I could find is Sweep for unix/linux based systems. (excellent freeware program). Will keep searching for a windows based editor/mixer, I anyone comes accross one please let me or NippleSpanner know.
Thanks.
