It's just so silly to browse trough the Recognition manual in 1939 and find tonnes of ships that haven't been invented yet  . And if there were inaccuracies or "unknowns" in real Recognition Manuals, they should be in the manuals in-game, too, I think.
To be frank, the recognition mannuals are one of the major compromises from reality in SHI through SHIII
To have such accurate data on the heights of masts etc on a particular ship in a convoy would have been practically impossible. Instead, the captain would have been expected to guess the height and use a spread of torpedos to compensate for innacuracy.
Question is, can there be a compromise for a game played out on a computer screen.

Realism option?
At the very least, make it dynamic, leaving out those damned not-yet-existing ships.

Hi,
I ignore the fact that 1944 ships appear in 1939. Annoying, yes, the end of the world? No.
It shouldn't be difficult to fix though: get the sim to select the appropriate recognition book based on the date, the same way as Grammarphone records are selected (these can be date-based).
One for SHIV.
