Hi all, i recently installed the IUB mod on top of SH3 1.4 modded with SH3 Commander. Whenever I try to load a mission with the IUB mod enabled, when it is done loading, my computer crashes to desktop with an error message. If i DISABLE IUB, everything runs fine, but i REALLY want IUB! Can anyone help me with this problem? Should I just get RUB instead? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

:)

Thanks

A couple of thoughts:

Did you start a new career? If so, did you make sure the year and flotilla you selected in Commander were the same as what you selected in the game interface?

If not, did you mod the game while you were still mid-mission?

Did you test the unmodded, patched game before you installed the mod? [I just reread your post, and it sounds like you did.]

If that's not it:
I would try rolling back SH3 Commander. Then use the program removal tool to actually remove Commander. (I'm not sure why this works, but it has helped me before.)

Then, the best thing to do is start over from an unmodded data file patched to v1.4

Reinstall the mod, then reinstall Commander on your computer.

Of course, if you saved your data file after you patched it, you can just delete the SH3 data file, replace it with the saved one, and then install the mod, and then commander, in that order.

Ah, a fellow New Yorker :)

Yes, I did start a new career, I did make sure the Flotilla/Start dates were the same, I didn't mod whilst in patrol, and I did test the unmodded 1.4.

I deactivated IUB, and activated RUB, but apparently, IUB includes more mods and is even more realistic than RUB (including RUB), so I still wanna find a way for it to work. RUB works fine on my computer.

I will try to delete the sub-folder I made for IUB in the mods folder, so its just the original file (thats what i did to get RUB to work), and if that does not work, I will try your idea. Thanks for the input m8.

I REALLY want to be able to get milkcows :D

It sounds like you are using the JSGME mod enabler.
Yes?

At the risk of telling you what you already know, the folder in the mods folder can be named anything you want, but then that folder MUST have a data folder within:

MODS/IUB-or-whatever/Data

I pretty sure there is also a standalone milkcow mod that comes included with the newest release of the Harbor traffic mod. So alternately you could just add that to your RUB configuration.
(But IUb is pretty nice if you can get it to run.)

I got it to work!

I just deleted the subfolder like I did with RUB, and presto, it works. The mod is wonderful, the water looks so much more realistic, as does everything else. I love the Harbor Traffic mod that comes included (although i collided with a German destroyer on my first patrol  ).

Do you know of any other good mods that would be worthwhile?

Also, is it normal for a Type IX boat out of 10th Flotilla to be assigned really long range patrols such as New York area and Cape Town area? Is that normal for SH3? Before i downloaded the patch and mods, I got patrols off Northern Africa and stuff like that.

Well, it's not normal for SH3. But it is normal for IUb. :rotfl:
And the IX boats were really intended for the mid-Atlantic/North American theatre. So with that handy Milk Cow mod, you can get there, and you can refuel as needed. (more or less).

Historically, I believe the average patrols for these boats were around 3 months.

Glad you got it working.

Um, I kind of like the "Torpedo and deck gun speed of sound delay."
Most of the other good mods are included.
I did revert back to some of the stock sounds, though. (I'm kind of picky about how things sound.)

Clear skies and good sailing!
