Hi, i am a new GW user (just played it all sunday-long) but a long SH3 user. And it's a really nice mod. But i still have a few question about it.
The first series is about the message you received during patrol.
After a couple of messages, i understood that many of them are just here "for fun".
in 1941, i receveived this :" All avaible boats are to home in on U-93 beacon, Intercept convoy"
Well, my english is poor but i understand the meaning of this message. So, what am i suppose to do? Where is this U-Boat?
Can you interact a little bit more with the other U-boats or do you only have the report contact and report patrol meesage to send ?
Can you give me some more information about the radio message system?
Thank you all

" All avaible boats are to home in on U-93 beacon, Intercept convoy"
I would say this is a "just for fun message."
Certainly, as I understand the file system that, based on a ceratain date, it would be possible to tie a radio message with an actual convoy from a convoy spawn from the campaign files.
This has been done with other historical events in the game.

Ok, and another question, when a U-boat send a message like
Ship sighted at AL 5133, how can i read the squarre? Or is it a message "just for fun" and i don't carre about it ?

Perhaps one of the mod gods will step in here but...
I am almost positive all radio traffic is historical information (i.e., the start of the war) or "just for fun" messages that add life to the game. The message you referenced in your last post would be an example of a "fun" message.
There is no radio traffic specially for you that requires you to do something or to even to respond in some way or fashion. At least I have never seen it or used a mod that does it.
Yeah I'm pretty sure all the radio messages you get are about things that are not actually happening in the game world.
They are there only to give you the impression that you are not the onlt boat on patrol.
To my knowledge it has been impossible for modders to make messages that have any relevance to the dynamic situation in the game.
It would be good to have some more messages around the scripted events such as norway, dunkirk and d-day.
-This might already be in the english version, I'm using the german files.
I heard globalexplorer was trying to incorporate radio messages as a feature of his sh3gen?
This could be the solution to some game relevant radio traffic.

I suspect that most if not all of these messages are "just for fun", but I love getting them anyway - also, on my last patrol BdU asked me, if possible, to go patrol another grid square. I was just wrapping up my 24 hours in my originally assigned grid, and the new one wasn't that far away, so I decided to go there for a lark - turned out I spotted and sank 3 freighters when I got there, so now I'll always go if I can, just in case :)

Thanks a lot for your answers all
I think that's ok now...
It's a really great game and great mod!!
The messages are actual messages sent during WWII on those dates. They are there to lend atmosphere to the sim and are part of IrishRed's radiolog mod.
